Title: this site gives you virus and potential identity theft
Post by: Eclipse98RS on March 02, 2010, 08:30:41 am
Ive been registed on this site for 3 days and I just ran a virus scan. I just happen to see my nortan antivirus scannig through a file called infostealer.snifula.b Sounds great right? INFO STEALER?!? It did not detect it as a virus or risk. The only 2 sites I have downloaded ANYTHING from in the past 2 months is this site and snapdollars.com.
Also I was trying to uninstall many programs that I downloaded from here and it would not let me delete/uninstall them. So now I have to reformat my whole computer that I just paid over $1000 for. So to the owners of this site...you keep can your lousy $25 (I can't even make it past $17 becuase none of the stupid offers credit) and I'll keep my $1200 pc running and keep my identity. Sounds like a plan.
By the way i could not find the file infostealer.snifula.b i searched everywhere. Where ever it was installed it is hidden well. People who use this site might want to run a antivirus scan and just watch every file it scans through.

I have used this site for quite some time now and have run both norton and mcaffee neither one has produced a "virus" as you have said! I am sorry for your trouble but I really think that you may have downloaded something else that you caught the virus from!

The fusion cash site is safe, but some of the sites connected with it aren't. Don't download any toolbars, software, etc. unless you are sure the site is safe. McAfee give each site a rating.

Sorry to hear of your problems.  I haven't had a single problem with any of the sites I have visited but Norton and AVG keep my PC running smoothly.  As for downloads, you have to be careful and use common sense.  Toolbars and games are always vessels for problems.  Avoid them completely.

As for the cost of rebooting your PC, you were ripped!  You could have done it yourself by erasing your hard drive then reloading your comp with the original discs that came with it.

Again, sorry for your problems but it isn't this site that is doing it.

Sorry to hear about your problems as well.  I have been here since last July, and have not had any issues with viruses, spyware, etc.  Not once has my anti-virus or firewall suspected a thing.

Like a few others said, you need to be careful of downloading anything, whether it be from here or any other site.  Due diligence should always be made before installing anything on your computer.  Even the best antiviruses, firewalls, and scanners can miss something, especially if it is fresh/new on the 'net.

Sorry for all the problems that has happened with your computer.  That is the major reason I do not complete offers that tell me I must download  and install their toolbars or software.  You never know what kind of viruses have attached to those downloads which will cause havoc on your computer.

That has happened to me in the past which caused so many problems because of downloads from sites that were risky.  Now I use different virus scanners, antispy ware on my laptop to block trojans that attach to files and viruses.

I understand you are mad but it is not that this site has viruses i have been a member of this site for about 2 years and never had that problem I also complete most offers whether it be free, trials and downloads of all kinds. I wouldn't trust that anti-virus as such I used to have it and it would always tell me I had a virus until I uninstalled it I found out it was just trying to get me to buy the updated version so it makes up "threats" to your pc. My computer is messed up bad. I am on my older computer right now. As for the people who said they ran virus scans, I did the same thing it scanned right through infostealer.snifula.b and many other suspicious file names. It did not detect any virus and did not say anything about them. It was just dumb luck that I opened the scan and saw the file it was scanning through (info stealer). I have norton antivirus that i update daily. So chances are if you dled anything from this site and run a virus scan your antivirus software won't even bring it to your attention. And whoever said I was ripped off for the cost of rebooting my pc... I never said I paid anything to reboot my pc.
If anyone is good with computers maybe you can help me? Alot of the programs I dled from here don't even have unistallers. So I open and folder and try to just delete every file manually. It won't let me, it says you do not have permission to perform this action. I am the only user of the pc and adminstration. Also my computer didn't come with a recovery disk so I can't just erase my harddrive and install everything again. I tried syster restore... went back about a week and when it reboots I get a message saying system restore did not work. Tried that 3-4 times. Also I cannot find the files that norton was scanning. And my internet explorer wil not open. So im really not to sure what to do. Any suggestions will be appreciated...

You might want to try running Malwarebytes. You can download it at Malwarebytes.org.

So can you get online at all on it? I had a similar problem some time ago and I went to this site through a moms social network I use and they helped get my pc back. It was bad I was getting popups even when I wasn't online. try it if you are able to log in I know for sure they can help you but you have to be able to get online so they can have access to your pc. http://www.4ComputerHeaven.com

This. This website didn't give you the virus, and isn't unsafe. Some website you went to through here did.

Have you tried another browser? Firefox is good.  Are you connecting behind a router? What is the status when you rightclick the network adapter and click status. There could be many things causing this problem but I doubt it is that virus. If norton didn't flag the file as a virus then how do you know it is? If it truely is something to try to steal your identity it would need to "phone home" to send back info which would require an internet connection. Even the basic firewall in Windows should block something like that. Whatever the problem is I highly doubt that something from the FC site caused it.

Honestly as long as you don't download anything you should be perfectly fine.

I have been using this site for several months now. I run good antivirus scans on a perodic basis, which one must do. I have news because no matter where you go or what you do on the internet, there are phishing, trojans, worms everywhere, in your email, everywhere, no where is safe and that is why is it important to run a good antivirus software on your computer,, I had to pay for my laptop to be fixed because it had a virus on it, costed 200 dollars to do it at best buy, but I let my antivirus overlap since I had just purchased the computer, as long as a person has good software their is no need to worry. I know alot about computers and know what I am talking about.

What anti-virus do you recommend?

Actually, I don't think you really have a virus.... We had a server at work that actually was attacked by a virus and so after cleaning it out, I ran Norton and watched as it scanned a bunch of files with very suspicious names in it. In fact, there was one file that it just seemed to spend a lot of time on, yet it never was flagged as a virus! WTF! Thinking the virus may have tampered with the Norton installation before I could remove it, I installed a fresh copy of MalwareBytes AntiMalware and ran the scan in safe-boot mode. Nothing was found. I also tried some other antivirus software and also found no threats. I uninstalled Norton, then reinstalled it, ran a scan and watched as it went through all of those suspicious files once again. And again, it never flagged any viruses. I Googled the one file name and it showed that it was indeed a virus. Now this was getting really annoying; Norton seemed to be scanning these files that were viruses but not flagging it, and none of the other antivirus programs found anything either. I was spending days working on this problem! And to top it off, if I tried to go to the directory where the file was supposed to be located, I couldn't find that file!  :BangHead:  :BangHead:  :BangHead:

I eventually found in a forum someone that had something very similar happening to them. I quickly read the comments to see if someone had found the answer. What I learned was that Norton was not actually scanning those files after all! What was actually happening was that as Norton is running the scan, it will list the threats that it is looking for, not the files on your computer that it is scanning (at least in the beginning part of the scan). The person that found this out actually recorded a movie of the screen during the scan. When they slowed down the replay, they noticed that every file was the name of a virus (or some other malware). This got them wondering and so they called up Norton help desk and it was confirmed that the program was indeed displaying the names of the files it is searching for, not the actual files on the computer.

So to think that I had wasted all of that time chasing down a phantom problem! hopefully this is what you are experiencing and that you don't actually have a virus after all! Good luck!

Your right Stephanie, Nortan is stupid.... scared the crap outta me. My computer was acting very slow and i couldnt get online probably becuase of an offer I dled. So I just copied the files that were only on my account on the computer made a new account and deleted the messed up one. Everything works fine now. I think someone should start a thread about what offers credit and dont require you to dl anything. Im staying far far away from any offers that require dling.
