I know cell phones come in handy sometimes but its very annoying to see all the phones in someone's ear.
What about communication to people around you instead of being on the phone.
I think cell phones are over used by folks with not much to say...just want to be talking on phone to anyone!
Remember the days without cell phones. Gee, we got along fine without them.
I think they should only be used for real emergencies and important stuff.

I agree somewhat....I think cell phones can be way over used and we're sometimes too dependent on them or
too obsessed with them (or on them constantly)...at the same time though, they have made communication easier/more reliable....
the annoying part is when people are talking on a cell phone when you're hanging out with them or something (esp. on a date or something)-seriously,
you can put the phone away for like 10 minutes and call them back or something, unless it's urgent...indeed, sometimes communication
is still bad, even with cell phones.....
it is amazing to think that people survived fine without them years ago.... ;)

Cell phones are annoying, when you are with someone and trying to talk to them, and they are fooling with their cell phone playing games, and texting, it makes you mad. Also when someone is in line at a store, put the cell phone down to talk to the cashier, or any place, liscense bureau, anywhere, if you are in line to talk to someone, put your phone down, give the person you are face to face with your attention, not the plastic you hold in your hand, rude, just plain rude.

It is hard when I think that 20 years ago we did not have cell phones and it seams that now is a must and with all the new technology, e-mail, web. text messaging etc. I am afraid that kids are loosing very essential communication skills as it is talking with some one.

It's all for convenience. Would you rather that people stay home and talk on the phone? It would be the same thing just not out in the open. We also didn't have computers back then. Yet we're all sitting here on the computer complaining about people's over use of cell phones when we could be out there communicating face to face with people as well.

Today I only would like to say that for those that use cell phones when driving, please, please get a hands free head set and only answer call or call if you can voice activate your call, I have seen so many accidents and what if makes me mad is when I see someone texting when driving. please STOP!
It is for your safety and those around you.
Thanks
Ontys

I rarely TALK on my cell phone, I use it for texting, its an easy way to communicate. I agree with the comment about NOT driving and using a cell phone. My dad texts while driving, I don't go in the same car with him anymore due to that.

It's a law that you have to use a head set in Oregon now to talk on the cell phone.

i use a cell phone. and i dont usually drive while im talking on the phone coz it does distract me. and i dont likw driving with one hand. i wish my plan was less money but have unlimited talk and text. i never did have unlimited talk and text until my man's parents got a divorse and they kept calling him on my phone coz at the time it was the only phone we had until we got a house phone. i had to change my plan coz everytime i would turn around i would have to add funds to the balance on my phone. so, now when someone calls.. i dont care coz it's no cost to me and i dont have to worry about using mins. just have to worry about the phone dying now.

While you're telling people to stop using their phones while driving, you should also mention not putting on make up, not eating, and not changing the radio station while driving

I'm always on my smartphone, but mostly because it is so useful for helping organize my day. I'm usually checking out my google calendar and seeing what I need to do, or browsing the net researching products when I'm shopping. Other than that, I don't enjoy talking all the time in public, if I get a call to conversate, I usually tell them I'll call them back later when I'm at home or something.

I agree the usage of cell phones should be reserved for emergencies. It is very convenient and handy to carry one when you’re on the road constantly. It makes it more efficient for people to reach you immediately to relay important messages. There are people who don’t own a home phone, so their cell phone is their all-purpose phone for business and pleasure.

Cell phones make things alot easier. Sure you can manage without one but it wont be as easy.
If you are talking to someone and they are on the phone you must not be that interesting...LOL
Using a phone while driving is stupid when there are so many ways to do it safely. My car has Ford Sync and I get calls and text from the radio without taking my eyes off the road.

Cell phones are over-rated but its an important part of my life. My husband is in the military and I never know when he is getting off work and I like to be home when he does and have dinner waiting on him! I cant stop what I am doing or whats needs to be done but I can hurry it along if I know he is on his way home. And god forbid he goes to Iraq or Afghanistan again, he only gets phone privileges one in a while and I never know when that is so if I did not have a cell phone I would not get to talk to him if I wasn't at home!

cell phones is really convenient to use but at the same time it should be respected from other people around you...
gotta be smart on things like that....

A time and a place for cell phone use. Being a waitress ITS ANNOYING TO HAVE SOMEONE TRYING TO ORDER AND TALK ON THE PHONE AT THE SAME TIME OR EVEN TEXT.
