They say history has a way of repeating itself and I am begining to believe we will head to another civil war. IF you think a civil war will happen again what do you think the premises of the war would be and what sides would be fighting? Would your state fight with or against the federal government
-
Well my state isn't one of the ones strongly speaking out against the healthcare bill. Been planning to move to Texas after graduation and now I'm even happier about it because Texas *is* against it.
-
Considering IL is in massive debt, I would think they'd fight for the Fed gov't just so they can grab every penny they can from its citizens. If they start taxing or throwing penalties on me for healthcare, I will move to a different state that is suing the fed gov't for being unconstitutional and stand behind them. Civil war? If it's going to start infringing on peoples rights, you bet there will be. I hope there would be. If not, we'll be turning into the very thing our founders fought against.
Ron Paul ftw

I also have been thinking the same thing if a Civil War will take place in the near future, with how the things have been going it may be sooner than we think.

no

I dont think there will be a civil war...the world will be destroyed before it could happen. 12/22/12 jk!
Honestly, IF anything happens it will be more of a revolution than a civil war. It will be the poor versus the rich, not state alliance or federal government involvement. Just a good ol' rising of the peasants. There is no need for people to make what they make as CEOs and a lot of companies just rape people out of money (credit cards, healthcare and oil companies). Seriously, did any of you really look into the last bailout bill before Bush left office - most of the companies that got money just exploited it. Think about it! I'm on the peasant side

No, of course there won't be a civil war.

Now THIS is a plausible future event. I really think it's the only way to get this country back on the right track.

Count on it. USA seems to have to have its nose in every other countries business yet ignores the citizens right here that need the help.United
Stupid
Ass
Which countries came to our aide when: the wildfires took place in California?
the destruction of Arkansas?
9/11? Need I say more???!!!
I'm disgusted to see how the government thinks nothing of paying out to send troops over seas. Let the government come up with the money for their debts by having bake sales, or rummage sales, or sale items for things the school or churches need.
As far as I'm concern the govenment is the biggest scammer of all.

This is the burden of being self-sufficient. Granted we probably could have used some help, but we have so many groups of people trained for these things. We're known for helping third world countries and for not taking over countries after a war-- instead we aid those who need our help (this current blunder is arguable so I don't want to get into that).

Another arguable thing but ehhh...yeah I agree with you kind of. Just be glad you have this many freedoms, technology, roads, materials, etc. The gov't does supply a lot of it.
-
Fah, God no.
In the US, everybody will just sue one another.
No actual fighting...
-
As long as we have cable, food, and alcohol, there won't be a civil war. Once 2 of those 3 things are no longer available, look out.
-
Hhahahahahah! The funny thing is you're probably RIGHT!
-
When I compare the ridiculous ideological nonsense that people are fussing about now to the huge issues that prompted our last civil war, my answer would be a big fat NO.
-
As my dad always says - Hope for the best, but keep your powder dry!
-
Most likely

Yes.
That's how the world ends in 2012. The gay naturally born Jewish turned Islamic convert Anti-Christ leads a coup in the military and then nukes the whole the planet.
It's all in the Book of Revelation. You just have to read it right ;)

Not in my lifetime im sure but ill give 3-1 odds the North would win again

And some say true wit has died. Very entertaining, Rastov, thank you! ;)

That comment put me in a better mood :)

No wonder my professor gave me a C on that paper I wrote about Revelation. I didn't interpret it right! Of course, I also wrote it an hour before it was due after a night of heavy drinking. :dontknow:

Rastov and Fuzzy ftw!
-
doubtful. we the people dont have enough freedom from our government, to revolt!
-
I don't think another Civil War will happen any time soon. I think before that will happen there will be a lot more changes for the worse before a revolt of any major kind will happen.
-
this nation, as bad as it is, is nowhere near as torn as it was during the civil war. i mean, look at John Brown at that time. the north viewed him as Moses, and the South viewed him as Satan. :angel12:
another point is that the country now is a lot more mixed thanks to transportation. it would be hard for people to quickly move to the side they want to defend. During the civil war, there was an obvious north and an obvious south. it was obviously cut.
-
I would say yes, but I think the American people are too dumbed down to fight back now. When people learn to think for themselves and be self sufficient and stop looking to the government for handouts because they start to realize the handouts are coming from their own pockets, there's a chance.
-
There probably won't be a civil war within the U.S., but there may be another world war what with all the international tensions. I'm just saying, we are going through the signs that indicate world war.
