I am sick again! I am so sick of being sick! I'm trying to get ready for my vacation and now I am feeling terrible. I think I may have strep this time because I have a fever, headache, tummy ache, sore throat and a rash. My husband has quarantined me because he is afraid he will get sick just in time to leave for vacation or worse while we are there. I have never had strep but was tested yesterday and won't know for 4 or 5 days. Has anyone had this? Is it hard to get rid of? :dontknow:

When I had strep I never really had all the problems you did. Usually it was just a really annoying sore throat. And I know my friend was able to go to work and not even notice that he had it until they did a strep test at work and sent him home early. I think you just got the more serious version of it. Hopefully it goes away soon. Feel better and have fun on your trip. :thumbsup:

I am amazed you say you "have to wait 4 or 5 days" to find out IF you have strep! There is an Insta Strep test that has been around for ages and is used by almost every hospital, physician, and pediatricians office. You CANNOT wait with a young child or other compromised patient to find out if they have strep since it can be very dangerous for them. I hope your doc, at the very least, put you on a regimen of antibiotics in the meantime? If your husband is going to catch what you have, believe me, he already has - just isn't showing your symptoms yet. I truly hope you feel better, but it may not be a good idea to go on vacation. You will expose a LOT more people and who knows what kind of treatment you'll get while away from home. Just my bucks worth (inflation ya know?), but I DO have 25+ years of specialized medicine under my belt so I am not talking out my you know what. Good luck! ;)

I haven't had Strep Throat, but I got step ear one time, I never heard of it. But you can get this from being our in below freezing tempertures for a period of time. I imagine it had got to be very bad. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

I am getting worried ... I am on antibiotics but feel horrible. My trip begins next weekend and we can't cancel .... we have a LOT of money tied up in the 2 week trip to Hawaii .... I need your prayers .... I need to get well soon.

I've had it a couple of times through my life-- I lost my spleen when I was a kid and am more seceptable (sp?) to it. It has always gone away within a week or so though. My advice? It's just strep! Unless you're missing some vital organs, you should be feeling better within the next 2-3 days since you're now on antibiotics. For the next week though you may feel a tad bit weak but you should be good to go by the start of your trip. After reading up a bit, here are some tips--
Take rest and don't smoke.
Drink a lot of warm water. Avoid cold drink.
you can gargle with one teaspoon of salt in a cup of warm water. ( I could never do this-- maybe you can tho)
Try to make a warm soup with no spice at all.
There is something important DON'T use your toothbrush. Try to buy a new one.
