I am not sure if i would let my kids watch this show or not, guess it depends on their age.  I think that it is on late night for a reason.

I agree. The so called "reality life language" on that show (and some other cartoons) is disgusting. Some people think it's funny. I'm an adult and I can't stand it. Couldn't pay me to watch that show.  >:(

You are absolutely right...we can choose not to watch shows like that. I just think it's sad that because since "this is America" that means that we are all just supposed to accept that kind of language (or behavior if that is the case) as "normal" for what we see on television and in life. The FCC is a joke with the stuff they "allow" on T.V. these days. I choose to think we are better than that.(not in a conceited way...but just at a higher individual standard).  Red Skelton was one of the funniest comics of his time and he NEVER used that kind of language. I believe that you don't have to "cuss" in order to be funny. I personally only watch shows that have some kind of meaning, plot or benefit or if they are comical, they are at least clean in their language. I know that many people would disagree with me on this but since "this is America" that's solely my opinion and you know what they say about opinions..."they're like bellybuttons...everyone's got one."

You mean Kenny? I love South Park. Matt and Trey ( the creators) have had death threats recently because they made fun of Mohammad. Comedy Central censored the hell out of their last episode.

I just think it's sad that because since "this is America" that means that we are all just supposed to accept that kind of language (or behavior if that is the case) as "normal" for what we see on television and in life.

Times have changed and that type of behavior is "normal" and does relate to real life. If it didn't, it wouldn't even be on TV for as long as it has. Red Skelton was funny back then but I hardly get a chuckle when my dad would put one of his tapes on. His humor is out dated. Sure one can still be funny and not curse (take Sinbad for example) but cursing isn't what makes it funny, it's just a language we're used to.

Edit: I'm an adult and I love South Park too.

The show used to be better. The later episodes are pretty annoying now.
But.. not as annoying as the latest Family Guy episodes. What happened to these shows?

I heard something about an episode where it was supposed to be Mohammed in a bear suit, but turned out to be Santa. A muslim radical group in NY is mad and threatening the writers for depicting Mohammed.

The whole reason the show is on late night television is because it is soo controversial. Since kids do not stay up late enough to watch it then it should not be a problem for adults to watch. If you have a child that stays up late to watch it and are not old enough to really comprehend the extreme humor than it is the parents fault, not the creators.

The FCC is a joke with the stuff they "allow" on T.V. these days. Ugh, you sound very prudish.  I think South Park is a good testament to getting more open-mindedness out there...the "higher individual standards" you speak of are completely off-base.  You just don't understand the stupidity in the world "offensive" shows like South Park are trying to fight.  You act like we all need to be protected from the big, bad world, completely disregarding the fact that not all people are as impressionable as you make them out to be.

I think censorship (for the most part) is completely ridiculous.  A word is only "bad" when it's used in a context that truly hurts someone, not because society has labeled it as bad.  You could call someone plenty of non-expletive nouns, and it would hurt just the same as a "swear" word because you're purposefully trying to hurt them.  "Bad" words are constantly changing, anyway.

I love this show its so funny but some of their jokes aren't as funny as others but that's what happens when you use hit or miss comedy.

I watched it the other night  the subject was sex addiction  and it was funny and sad at the same time, funny coz it made society look so stupid and sad because it made society look so stupid. Only the rich and famous married men that get caught cheating have sex addictions.

South Park deserves a medal. I hated the first few seasons until the writers actually started taking a stab at things going on in the world and seeing it from different viewpoints (siding WITH cigarette smokers? Wow!). Even now it's still hilarious. Some episodes are much better than others though-- hit or miss.

Does not anyone worry about the language these kids are picking up and morals, they cus in all the cartoons now just about, does this reflect what american society is turning into, No wonder they had a skit about Brittians calling us oafs the other day if this is the kind of tv we give ratings too, then this is how the world will think of us. Our kids will learn bad habits and do things, and then we will punish them, and wonder why they did it. geeze maybe some parents been watching a little too much too, guess it affects everyones brain. A third of this country probably can not name who the vice president, gee I wonder why, but they can name the kids on south park.

I think South Park makes some pretty valid points on some of their topics. The creators are not afraid of voicing their opinions through this show. Yes there is a lot of swearing and I can see where people find that offensive, personally I don't but that's just me. As far as children watching it the show wasn't made for children, only adults. That's why they have it on late night. In my opinion the only way a parent is going to shield their child from picking up any sort of negativity from watching the TV is to just simply not have a TV at all. A lot of shows, even kids show IMO, shouldn't be viewed by younger kids. That's my opinion though and like someone already stated on here "opinions are like bellybuttons everyone has one".

This indeed may be America but we are still somewhat restricted with regards to what is allowed on TV.  The Hays code was a bit ridiculous not allowing a man and a woman to be in the same bed on TV but TV has liberalized considerably since the '30s and '60s.  However American TV is not nearly as free as European television where you've got nudity on every game show.

I say American TV could learn a thing or two from Europe and South Park is a step in the right direction  ;D

It's the parent(s) fault, NOT South Park.  Letting your kids run loose and not disciplining them, not paying attention to them, feeding them fast food and keeping them indoors, and not having them read books does WAY more damage.

Haha my favorite is probably Man Bear Pig!  On another note I think that kids should be allowed to watch it. If cursing like they do on South Park is no big deal (which it isn't) then the kids watching won't think its a big deal and wont think, "Oh cursing is so cool."  I mean if a kid who never heard a curse word in their life but has always heard that they are "bad words" and shouldn't be used then when they do discover the secret curse words they'll make a big deal out of it, get very excited, and use the words often.

Joe Biden, Stan Marsh,Eric Cartman,  Kenney Mccormick, Kyle Broflovsky   Lets see if a third of the people know which one the vice president is
