Title: Cinco de mayo
Post by: ktheodos on May 05, 2010, 06:29:14 pm
So...what do people actually think of this "holiday"? To me, it's just another excuse to "party" (kind of similar to St. Patrick's Day, in my opinion)....

I personally never really thought of it as a holiday exactly. I have a cousin who was born on this day so it just happened to be his party every year instead.

Right you are. In Mexico, the country from which the celebration originates, Cinco de Mayo is not a big holiday. All it is is a day that commemorates   a battle victory over the French. Americans just want any chance they can get to party hard.
