I think the costs will ultimately destroy the BP oil company and it will go under.
-
I can see this happening, I think it would take alot to pull this one out. It is sad to see, but now that the president, put all the blame on them and of course none on the actual government of course, they really were hung out to dry.
-
BP may lose a lot of money, lay people off, stop giving out million dollar bonuses but they will never go out of business. Having money is just too powerful and some one or some country will probably bail them out of this mess.
-
It sure looks like they will. All I know is they need to get on the ball with getting this mess cleaned up. They got the pipes down there how come they can not get it contained?
-
I don't think so.

It's acutally hard to tell at this point. Things are bad now, but they can only get worse with the hurricane season starting up. The way I see it is if the gets as bad as some of the predictions I've heard then BP will most likely go under, but at this point I can see them shutting down a lot of their refineries and stations around the globe, but not all of them. From the ones that they do keep open they will regroup there company.
-
Not sure... I think it's truly a toss up.
-
It would be the least that they deserve...

They will have fines up the wazoo after it is all said and done, but I don't think they will go bankrupt. Its more the aftermath I'm more worried about. Now that this has happened, its all the what the liberals need to push for more restrictive drilling every where. I'm sure there will also be useless taxing on the companies themselves which will of course be passed onto the consumer. It was BP's fault completely. Does some blame go to the gov't? Maybe, but that remains to be seen. I don't think blaming the gov't for this does any good. Accidents like this are few. Just think of all the drilling rigs out in the gulf or even on land.
-
yeah maybe. we will see wont we. they caused this mess coz theywere being careless coz they were greedy. now they cant fix it. wtf!
-
I hope so...heard they are a foreign company anyway...How did a foreign company get permission to syphon oil from off our shore's anyway? I don't understand how this whole thing work's. ???

seeing those pelican covered in oil was sad!!!
-
Bp might be on the edge of going under but I don't think they will.
They have insurance just like you and I, and they are covered if a malfuction in the alarm caused the explosion which in turn caused the well to rupture. CYA has always been the policy of big business.

I think they will. Lawsuits?
-
I don't think it will hurt BP too badly. It will probably take years to work through courts, and by then only coastal people will still be angry.
It's very sad.

Very sad, someone deserves jail time just for that picture of the pelican, not to mention the 11 people who died in the explosion. BP has very deep pockets i dont think its gonna hurt them as much as it hurts everyone and everything else.

I am not so sure that they will go under. Surely this is a serious blow to the company. Let's not forget the billions and billions of dollars that they have made in profits. The money made in profits will take care of much of their responsibilities in cleaning up this mess. It will be interesting to see how this plays out? There is a possibility of criminal charges here.
-
It could very possibly happen. But why does it have to take so long to fix this. It is all the way to Florida. What happens if it goes further? A lot of water and waterlife will be destroyed. Fix it already!
-
i not only think they will i hope they do poor fish and birds . :sad1:

I think that BP probably has deep enough pockets that they can make this go away. I think they're trying to do as much as they can for publicity damage control right now-if they play their cards right, they can probably turn it around to make it look like they are sooooo soooorry about all this and they're doing eeeeeverything they caaaan to make it better. People tend to buy that sort of thing.
I certainly don't think they caused this disaster on purpose, but I think that it is their duty to clean it up!!!
-
I am sure if not completely will sell out, cost of cleanup plus lawsuits etc will be extremely high and thats why we don't hear alot from bp
-
It better not go bankrupt before it pays for all the damage it has caused. After that, I hope it crashes and burns.
-
At this time, the govt rules say they will only be responsible for 75million for damages. That is the cap any oil co has to pay. Sad, but true.
