Title: How often do you use the Public Library?
Post by: shellyb42 on June 16, 2010, 08:43:55 am: My laptop has crashed and a friend is fixing it for me. Until then, I am using the computer at the library. I also like to read, so I am at the library at least once a day. How often do you use the Library in your town?

I rarely go to the library. But just like you, when my computer was down, I used to go almost every day. However I think it is a essential element to education in this country. I would really hate to see the library disappear, due to the computer age.
BUT IT MIGHT HAPPEN.

My father is elderly and not well and he loves to listen to the playaways ..... a book recorded on a small device that looks like an mp3 player ... very cool and my daddy loves them so I get those for him and sometimes pick up a movie or cookbook for myself.

I started a data base of books I have read about 3 years ago, and since then I have read over 1000 books. I couldn't afford to support my habit! A friend once told me "Thank goodness for the library, else you would be out knocking over liquor stores to support your habit!" LOL Love the library!!

week and i found some awesome stuff in it! i miss it...

since i've moved, i've not even bothered going to the
library. i've been meaning to though. i love free movie
and cd rentals, so i'll probably grab a new library card
soon...

My daughter is really into reading as well and can out read me! It just doesn't make sense to spend $4-8 on a book when I can get it for free from the library. Having said that...I wish I used our public library more but they have come up with weird system of checking out books that involves the use of a pin number and I just have gotten myself down there to figure everything out. :dontknow:

She reads three books then the kids get to paint or color followed by a craft. Then when the children leave they all get a treasure out of the box. I love it that the library does this for summer vacation.

i dont use the library very often. i usually get things for my fiance and mom when i do go. i used to use their internet constantly when i didnt have a computer .

Post by: superteacher on July 07, 2010, 04:22:39 pm: the public library in our community is 15 minutes away on foot so I walk there everyday wih 2 different reasons: one is to have a good excuse to walk away some weight and the other one is to get to read latest published books with free PC classes organized by the library.

I'm into Criminal Justice, so I am always looking for new and updated books on the topic. I remember growing up, we had the "decimal" system, with the actual files that you had to pull the card out of. It was such a pain in the butt, going alphabetically down that row of cards, trying to find something that peaked your interest. My favorite thing about the public library now-a-days is the computerized decimal system. In a matter of seconds, I am looking at all the books related to the topic of my choice! It saves so much time, which results in me being able to go more often, say, for example, right before I go to work.
