Title: Trouble Sleeping How About You
Post by: robin1128 on July 08, 2010, 05:35:16 pm
I don't know about you but I have trouble sleeping most night. Not because its hot, I just can't sleep. I have tried different things but nothing seem to work. And I don't like to take pills, because I'm on enough meds. Well if anyone could think of something that will help let me know.

I have trouble sleeping, but I always used to read before bed and that helped. My boyfriend started meditating before bed and he says it helps him a lot.

I've never had trouble sleeping anywhere, anytime.  Sometimes if I'm reading a boring book that will put me to sleep quick.

I ALWAYS have trouble sleeping.  I don't know if it is because I'm getting older it has gotten worse or what the problem is.  I took 2 benadryl last night for my allergies,  which usually knocks me out, but didn't sleep much at all.

Try to find something that relaxes you.  Take a nice long bath and try to let your mind clear.  One of the things that has worked for me has been to count one onethousand two onethousand and so on until your brain gets tired.  I have had many problems with insomnia over the years.  I also do not use any medications.  Eventually your body will shut down and let you sleep.

Did you try milk?  I drink cold milk, even though your supposed to drink warm milk to go to sleep, milk knocks me out at night

Some nights I have trouble sleeping. I usually put my TV on sleep for 30 or 60 minutes and then I watch until I fall asleep.

I had trouble sleeping too.. then I decided to fork $700 into a king size memory foam mattress. I've slept much better than I ever could have hoped to. It's that noticeable.

While I was still in high school, I recall sleeping with ear muffs or something to dampen noise if noise was keeping me up. Sometimes white/pink noise would lull out the inconsistent noises that'd keep me up. I have many OCD tendencies so a lot of what I do to get comfortable is routine.

While I was in college, I found the best sleep would be to stay up 30-50 hours and then just pass out from exhaustion. Not a healthy method, but sometimes I lay in bed and cannot fall asleep for the life of me. When my body gives up and runs itself into the ground, nothing wakes me up. ;)

Have you done a search online for tips?  There are tons of things that you can do to help your body relax and get a good night sleep.  Perhaps you could see your doctor also.

I rarely have trouble sleeping. I SHOULD be sleeping and not stay up too late past bedtime.  :confused1: When my head hit the pillow, it doesn't take long for me to doze off... even when someone slams the door, I'd still be dead asleep.  ;D I have never relied on taking sleeping pills. Reading a boring book or meditating at night (with dim lighting) helps tremendously. It is also important to not eat anything at all a few hours before bedtime, otherwise you will have a much difficult time dozing off.

Same here- I can never sleep through the night, no matter how tired I am.  I had a sleep study done, but they didn't find anything wrong.  It's not fun at all.

I have had trouble sleeping since 2006.  The only thing that helps me is melatonin.  Its safe and natural.  I have to take enough pills myself but I can take these and sleep most nights but I do have trouble getting to the point to were I feel I can lay down to sleep.  Once I start feeling sleepy I go to bed and I will sleep until morning around 7 am or later if I don't have doctor appt for myself, husband or father.  You can wake up go bathroom and then fall right back asleep with no problems.

:cat:  I was given a med but try not to use it much because of all the other med(s) I'm on.  Sometimes I read myself to sleep; play a card game on my cellphone; watch For..sic Files (the narrator speaks soft); or even try to think on memorized Scripture (kind of like "counting sheep",...)  Insomnia is definitely not fun!!! Hang in there!

Whenever I have trouble sleeping I usually try reading or watching TV....Not really paying much attention on the book or TV...It seems after my mind is relaxed I fall asleep!

wish I could help but I'm in the same boat.  It is 7:57am and I still have not slept.  I am on 8 pills a day plus narcs for pain.  I cannot take sleeping pills because I have a toddler and I 'm a single mom...so I cannot take anything that will knock me out...i don't know what to do, maybe it's the fibromyalgia... :sad1: :sad1:

When I do, I read a book and it usually knocks me right now.  Or I think about some type of paradise and I drift away into that : )

im nocturnal by nature...and when I have to play by a day schedule, it makes sleeping a real pain.  I just started another med which is also interfering with sleep, so really I'm a hot mess atm lol.
generally though, if I'm allowed to follow my biorhythms, I sleep a little more and less brokenly.  I read.  I use a white noise machine.  can't take melatonin, have tried, and will not take "sleep" type meds, because, as others have said already, I have enough to keep track of.
