Title: Use of ashtray
Post by: franlee46 on July 24, 2010, 01:31:14 pm
Hi everyone,
I have to just get this off my chest.... why is it that people cannot use their ashtray instead the ashes are flicked out the window worse yet is when the cigarette butt is flick out the window or dropped out like no one can see  it being done.   This is especially annoying if you are the one with your windows down because it is a beautiful day out driving behind them. Enough said just use the ashtray that is why they are in cars still My intent is not to offend any smokers just would like to know why and does anyone else have issue with this???? :dontknow: :-

I guess they don't want to bother to clean them out later? I wouldn't know.

I would say out of how many people smoke in the world (like some of my co-workers) they "never" get a chance to clean the ash-tray out......I think they could easily do it in a couple minutes.....they keep claiming to have no time on their hand......but then they go out to dinner for 3 hrs with family...so idk.  how about..STOP  ??? SMOKING!!! sry.

I guess it goes along with the people who will throw trash out of their windows. They just don't care. I had an ex who used to *bleep* me off by throwing cig butts in the toilet.

When I used to smoke, I used them.. I don't know why someone wouldn't, unless they just think it's easier to be a slob.

I saw this topic and had to comment on it. I think it is rude to throw cigarette butts out the window of your car when your driving and think its pure inconsideration for others and the environment. Many car manufacturers today are eliminating the ashtray, so many new cars don't have ashtrays. If thats the case ashtrays can be bought for use in the car and fit nicely in the cupholder. A friend of mine who smokes threw a cigarette out of her car window and was pulled over by a cop and ticketed for littering. She could have bought an ashtray for about $5.00 but instead got a ticket for $175.00.

People just do not care.  It is still littering.  It is a dirty habit and it annoys me also.

I know because I do that do ecp when I get intoxicated. I see them everywhere. Nearly impossible to find a big area with no cig butts. It's just the way smokers are. Careless like our health.

Thanks everyone for your comments and etc I am glad that others feel like I do I like the comment about the person that received a ticket for littering maybe if more got a ticket people would think before throwing anything out the car window  :)

Don't smoke here. Alot of new cars don't come standard with ashtrays anymore. My Mustang didn't as well as the wifes Jeep.
Smoking is a disgusting habit, it makes perfect sense for these people to be rude by dumping ashes and butts out the window. ;D

Wow. I usually get irritated by other drivers for a multitude of reasons - not using a turn indicator, "revving" the car up to a stop sign or red light, or passing someone else just to get in front of the person and then hit their brakes - but I never noticed the cigarette thing! You're absolutely right! There's an ashtray BUILT IN, so why are people flicking their cigarette butts out the window?! Oh, humanity - you're so annoying!

wow.. well no offense but she got what was coming to her. i hate that SH** i really do. why dont people just stop smoking?? the world would be a healthier place, people. i seen someone flick their cigarette butt off the window too and it really made me mad. i wanted to run into them with my car. i hope that person gets caught one of these days too and gets a 175$ ticket for littering. I REALLY FREAKING HOPE TO GOD THEY DO!!

my old boss said this same thing when i asked him why he didn't use his ashtray. he said it was a pain to clean it out and that he didn't want his car smelling like smoke. i had to bite my tongue from telling him that everything about and around him smelled like smoke and that half the employees in the office knew he was in the building without even seeing him just from the way he smelled.

eh...I'm a smoker, I smoke less than a half a pack a day, and I bought one of those cup holder ashtrays.  I don't like using the ashtray in my vehicle, because even though I can't smell the smoke on myself, I hate the stale smell of smoke from ashtrays or on other people, especially heavier smokers. The cigs were the first things to go once I got pregnant.  What irony: a smoker who hates the smell of smoke.
