Title: Free at last from telemarketers - You Mail
Post by: kqa on August 04, 2010, 07:22:50 am
I love You Mail.  There are a variety of messages to choose from, including your number has been disconnected, you have reached the National Do Not Call Registry, etc.  Check it out.  :)

Sounds great, except for the fact that I have no idea what you are talking about. :BangHead:

Can you clarify this. Is this a website or something.

Kqa  is referring to the government Do not Call Registry where you register all your phone numbers on this list/site in order to stop telemarketers and others, from calling you trying to sell you something.

You can also file complaints at this site if you are receiving repeated calls from anyone on a continuous basis- and this does work.

Not exactly - that IS what the Do Not Call Registry is, but they are talking about the YouMail digital voicemail service. You can set your voicemail to answer that someone has reached the National Do Not Call or a ton of other 'spoof' voicemail greetings.

For anyone interested, here is the site for the political 'Do Not Call Registry':

http://stoppoliticalcalls.org/index.php (http://stoppoliticalcalls.org/index.php)

edited to add: I forgot to say, since I signed up for this over a year ago, this IS NOT monitored or enforced like the business one. It is hoped that enough people signing up and complaining about these calls will put national laws into effect. I can say that since I signed up, called my state politicians offices, and also used a couple form letters from here, I received a lot fewer calls during the 2008 campaign. This is totally a 'grassroots' effort, but I feel it is important enough to stand by it. ;)

It's not the same as the National Do Not Call Registry, which seems to always be "behind."  You Mail is a private voice mail service for cell phones.  Works wonders!  Just Google it.

Darn it, I wish it would work for land-line as well because it seems the national do not call registry is not doing its job. I don't have much problems with my cell phone it's my land-line that gets flooded with telemarketers and charity calls. I can't stand it. It's the worst that can happen to someone. They'll call at all 9 pm. Who the hell does that? While you're watching your favorite show on tv some telemarketer has to call at the time. I even had one call me at 3am while I was sleeping and he spoke to me in Spanish and asked me if I wanted long distance. Like how the hell did he know or assume that I spoke spanish. That just really got to me. Uugghh! lol!
