Title: Ok I have another newb question?
Post by: ieatfelt on August 23, 2010, 08:42:47 am
So i'm looking at these games/quizzes where you end up getting a text with a pin number attached to it. It appears that many have completed these with good success soooo my question would be are there any strings attached or any extra charges that will show up on my cell bill for the text they send? If anyone could fill me in with their experience with these games/quizzes it would be MUCH appreciated! FC ROCKS!!

I got caught up in something like that and got a $10 charge on my Verizon bill for premium texts.  They took it off for me when I called and another one came in while I was talking to the guy.  He helped me unsubscribe to it and then put a block on my line so I won't get any more.  I don't ever put my cell number on now.

Hello ieatfelt,

It is always a good idea to read the fine print. In this case you are agreeing to a subscription to recieve text messages from this company by recieving the text with the code and entering it you are confirming that you agree to the terms and conditions of said offer. Always make sure that you read the offer descrition for full details :)

On another site I worked with, you'll always get a charge on your monthly bill for those offers. In a way, they are never worth it, unless you can hand the monthly charge.

yeah, i feel like the monthly charges are kind of counteractive to the money you actually earn.  (Who wants spam texting for $10 anyways???) so it's best to keep your number private.

most of the time if u have to enter a pin code back they are charging you ten bucks so if the offer is for 2 bucks and ur cell phone company charges you ten bucks you are negative 8 bucks so i wouldnt do it. if you not careful you may end up with TONS of extra money on your bill.....many people dont realize this but there other sites like fusion and if you do every sites free offers every month and have them all cash out on the same day you usualy get all the checks at the same time so right now i am at about 500 through many different sites i have been doing this for 5 years and make tons!! im new to fusion but i lik it so far!

I would not give my cell phone number out in completing these offers, read the fine print and make sure to take good notes as to confirmation numbers, expiration dates of trial periods and phone numbers to contact in case of errors made of your account, in summary, keep a detailed paper trail.

Me too would suggest to keep away from the offers requiring mobile numbers where a PIN number will be sent. I always use my land line number for other offers or use a K7 number. This is my opinion. Have heard a lot of stories in this forum about people being charged for giving the cell number.
And it is always a good idea to ask here in the forum, there are lot of experienced people here to help us..

Unfortunately most of the time when you complete mobile offers you DO get charged a monthly fee, even if you text STOP back to the number.  This is because you have already been charged for one month, but they will not charge you for another if you reply STOP like it usually says to on the text.  Read the fine print beside the asterisks.  Which mobile offers have you done?  I can look at them and tell you if you will be charged.  For example, you will be credited $7.20 if you do the "Get Bonus American Idol Ringtones or Cool Text Services Now!" offer, and $7.20 is pretty much the most you can get for a mobile offer.  However, when you click on the offer and scroll down to the bottom of the page you see the following:

Minimum age restrictions apply. You must be 18 or older in order to participate in the following states: Florida. cdba1ddb31cc6ebaeba35cf02be124c4
Terms & Conditions for AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Alltel, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Cellular One customers: By entering the PIN code sent via text message to the cell phone number supplied by you on this page, you agree to Flycell's Terms of Use, Flycell's Privacy Policy and you acknowledge that you are subscribing to Flycell's ClubPack service at a cost of $9.99 per month, for which you will receive 10 credits every month. 15 additional credits will be deposited into your account for the first month of service only. Credits can be used to download ringtones (1 credit each), wallpapers (1 credit each), animations (1 credit each), themes (1 credit each), games (2-3 credits each), applications (2-3 credits each), SMS services such as Text Alerts and Mobile Match up (*Games and Mobile Match Up not available to Verizon Wireless customers). Credits expire at the end of each monthly billing period. Internet-enabled handsets are required. Message and Data Rates May Apply. Charges will appear on your wireless bill or will be deducted from your prepaid balance. Charges will continue until you cancel your subscription. The account holder must authorize all charges. To cancel your subscription text the word STOP to 69999. For help, text the word HELP to 69999. To learn more about Flycell's Terms & Conditions, visit our website at http://www.flycell.com/terms-of-use or call 1-800-580-0017.

You receive $7.20 for doing the offer, but are charged $9.99 to do it as well, so you are actually losing money ($2.79).
I try to stay away from mobile offers due to this!  I'm really sorry this happened to you, please read the fine print in the future so you don't end up getting charged again.   :(

Let me know if there's anything else I can do.
Becca

read the terms and conditions. Most likely those offers will charged you $10 for the first month.
