I went with my daughter to help her buy school supplies for her first grader. OMG the things kids have to have just to start school. I know they need supplies, but what the schools ask for well that just a little too much and the cost I want go there. There should be a place you can get the supplies without paying a arm and a leg. Oh well its for the kids.

If you shop around for school supplies you can find a deal here and there. Try the Dollar store or 99cent store. You might be supprised to find out that also the stuff on the list is a Want and not a Need...

It's so expensive! I'm in high school. My mom flipped when we went shopping. We like a certain kind of binders and they were $3.87 each!! My sister and I both have 8 classes, so you can imagine how many supplies we need. They eventually went on sale for $2.50 each, but still. We bought a few and reused some from last year. There are deals out there though. But it's still insane. The key is to treat your supplies well and reuse as much as you can. Don't reuse junkie things though. Walmart is always the best place to shop, but dollar tree can be useful especially for younger children. Sometimes though, if you really want to save money, quality will have to be sacrificed.
