how many of you can "handle your liquor". I mean like drink in a civilized manor. If you get drunk, does it bring out your inner animal?

Don't drink & drive. :peace:

I don't really drink very often. But even when I was young and foolish and drank more often, I acted ridiculous when drunk. Well, when I drink now, it doesn't take much for me to get tipsy and I act all giggly and dumb. My husband thinks it's funny but if I was recorded and watched it sober I would probably be horrified!
My husband becomes the famous line "I cannot tell a lie"
I can ask him anything while he is drunk and he will tell me the truth lol. Now if I buy wine for special occasions he wonders what information I'm going to try and pry out of him. lol

when i drink (very rarely) i just feel uncoordinated. i don't like drinking. i'd rather smoke a blunt. but when i do have a drink, it takes quite a few to get me drunk. i used to drink A LOT when i was about 15-16 but now i just have one and relax

I learned how to drink when I was in Croatia. I had previously drank a little, but over there, people drink to completely enjoy their experiences, we never drank to excess, always had good food around to sop up the alchohol ( they like to serve bread and soup to help keep people from getting to tipsy, especially at weddings!), then we drank some more!!! Of course, the last night I was there, everyone was sad that I had to leave, so we all got plastered!!! But it was great, I didn't get sick and got to party on a rooftop at night in Zagreb with my friends and good barbecue under the stars.(ohh, what a beautiful cheezy moment I just wrote about, try not to laugh too hard!!!)
So I guess the answer is yes, I hold my Liquor quite well!!!
P.S. UNDER THE STARS, MAN-YEAH!!!lol

tzs, I loved the totally cheesy story! Sounds VERY cool and I'm glad you had that awesome opportunity. ;)
I really had to rack my brain on this one. Other than a couple beers and shots of Jack Daniels on vacation 6 years ago, I really haven't had any alcohol in well over 25+ years. Can't handle hangovers, booze and taking care of patients at my best do not mix, and I am on call too much of the time when I am off my normal shift. I have a huge, huge paranoia that I would have just 1 beer or whatever, have to go into the hospital (happens even when I am NOT on call), and I would cause harm to an innocent person because MY brain was 'fuzzy'. I have seen too many bad things happen from people I work with having alcohol and/or drug problems. I NEVER want to be one of them and I won't risk my career, worked too damn hard to get it! I also grew up with a mother who was a paranoid schizophrenic and alcoholic to boot - too much predisposition for problems of my own right there. Don't get me wrong, I definately had my share of fun in HS and college..... 8)

Wow...totally reminded me of an episode of Doogie Howser, M.D. You just officially became my favorite person of the day, Jordandog.
On the topic of drinking...I don't drink very often, because I'm what you'd call a lightweight. A couple of beers and I'm gone.
Last year, on December 1st, my mother in law got me drunk and asked if we could take my daughter to see Santa. At that point, I'd had a margarita and 2 shots of Jager. Not my finest moment. My Jewish child now has pictures with Santa.
Earlier this year, at a reunion for my high school marching band, I had wine and mixed drinks. I decided it would be a good idea to do some karaoke...then while my husband was driving and got lost, he asked me for directions. I proceeded to cackle at him and say "first rule of the bayou...never take direction from a gator."
So, yeah...I tend to stay away from the alcohol, and drink only a few times a year.

I am a wonderful drinker. I do not get hostile, when I was younger like underage younger I would get a little sloppy but grew out of that quick, no one likes an annoying chic lol, I rarely throw up but as I am getting older I am starting to feel the hangovers!

I just saw this, Amy - thank you.:) 'The Doogster', LOL, that brought back memories. My oldest son had just turned 13 when that was on and he always said HE was going to be just like him!

HAHA...Dr. Doogie and Joey McIntyre were my first crushes. I had some high hopes, there, didn't I? The funny thing is, though, that even though I tended to like my older men, I married a younger one!

:cat: I don't drink. My dad was an abusive alcoholic so I guess that's why I avoid the whole drinking idea. I know people that drink who are in no way like he was, but I guess the impression was laid, or "handed" on me too strongly... :(

I know when to stop drinking unlike most people I know... but I'm a cheap drunk so I can't drink that much to begin with if I want to stay 'civilized' haha

No drinking for me as I remember in my much younger days of hugging the porcelain throne most of the night. After becoming a Christian, it wasn't a part of my life anymore.
