Title: Gamefly - they had a 20$ security thing?
Post by: KaoticKonfuzion on February 19, 2008, 08:58:06 pm
I tried out the free trial for a bit, got confused... wayyyy confused...., and canceled it. Since it was a 10-Day free trial and I only lasted about 2 days, does that mean I should be getting that $20 back?

the 20 was never taken,,, they made sure you had a min in the bank of 20 before letting you do the trail... when they do that the bank puts a hold on that money for 3 - 5 days... and remember sunday and a holiday just passed. so it should be released to you soon... it states this when you sign up for the trail.

ok im lost here. I have had my first game from gamefly isnt that kind of like netflex you watch the movie send it back and they send you whats in your que? Im finding myself getting more busy and having a hard time finding time to play harry potter looks fun.. but my days are so full. its a nice service to have if you have the time.. I like the concept of it cause you can actually try out the games longer then if you were to rent them from a movie place.. there no late fees on this. and you can see if you like the game before actually buying it and realizing what a waste of money. lol..

Im going to try to ck this Harry potter game out next week. :)  but anywhodedo..
what in the world is a 20.00 security I never had to do that.

on ur CC, they put $20 on hold to make sure you have enough funds when the trial is over.

well, if you're a big videogame type of person, then the deal itself should be quite worth it.

I cancelled about a week ago, and there is still a 20$ hold on my credit card? I wasn't expecting it to take this long...

KaoticKonfuzion, have you gotten your 20$ back yet?

It usually takes around 10-14 business days for the hold to clear when you are using one of those trial services

The 20 dollars was a "hold" once you cancel on time, the money gets credit back into your account.

I used to rent games all the time, but I don't play much anymore. i would get gamefly if I still played a lot, especially after some of the late fees i have been stuck with over the years. Sometimes it would have been cheaper to buy the game out right.

This one just made me a bit more nervous than some of the other trials so I haven't gone through with it yet.  Like some others, it seemed there were too many lines of "fine print" and I'm afraid if I don't like it, I'll have failed to do something that will cost me an arm and a leg bc I didnt understand it. :(
