Title: Voter Identification
Post by: fudion14 on September 30, 2010, 01:11:16 am
Are voter identification laws justified by the need to combat voting fraud in order to uphold democracy? Or are such laws unnecessary and discriminatory?

I think voter fraud is become more and more of a problem. I think having a voter ID card would at least limit some of the fraud that has been happening. I don't see how they can be discriminatory as long as there aren't obstacles to getting one other than that you are a legitimate citizen of this country and still have retained the right to vote (ie not under age, a felon, etc.). Some of the earlier laws that some states tried to impose were wrong (eg requiring the person to be able to read), but that doesn't mean that the new laws will be phrase like that.

Make it viewable.
That way we can blame the people who voted for the idiots who ruin the country.
