Title: The African American Voice - Requirements
Post by: carolyn2991 on February 25, 2008, 08:22:46 pm
Under requirements they forgot to mention that you have to be black or you will be turned down for this.  Sure, African American denotes blacks......but why do you have to be black to take a damn survey??

I put that I was white and it rejected me...then went back and said I was black and it credited me....lol.  How silly is that?

Well, let me rephrase.....because I see that it is worded in a confusing manner.....

I said I was black and it gave me the account.  I never actually took the survey......I just wanted to see if it would let me do it...as long as I said I was black.......and it did give me the opportunity....I just didnt take it.

Yes I did, and then I came back and cleared up what I said.  Has your brain ever "not thought" before you spoke or typed?  Mine   does occasionally.

See below.  Notice my last offer.  If there is a problem, report me and let FC decide if I dishonestly accepted credits.

Same thing happened to me as well.  I didnt go back and re-do it though.  I kinda got POed about though over the notice that i got that stated I didnt meet the criteria.  In my opinion, thats an offer that should be pulled.

well, i thought the same at first....

how would people feel about "only whites" accepted at the present time......

but, i've seen age specific surveys as well....

so....

thinking about that.... it didnt bother me as much.

I find this one kind of racial.. actually. if there was one that said whites only.. wouldnt you think the other races would be offended. they would jump on this one and would have a riot on here seriously. may have to call in jesse jackson if that happened lmao roflmoa

well, as a tomcat, i dont want to be asked if my tampon provides maximum protection, either.

so..... as a caucasian, i really dont have a problem with not being asked... "which gell do you use in your jerry-curl do".  :icon_rr:

well just a suggestion. I would do a ticket and let them know you did it as a curiousity so if it did somehow accidently credited cause some do take time to credit. they can forgive you and all well be well. and remove the credit. I can easily see your point on doing that though. I wouldnt of done it but curiousity does kill the cat at times in life lol..  :cat: and satisfaction brought it back

This offer is not coming down any time soon.  Surveys use all sorts of demographic information to (dis)qualify participants -- market research is about learning what your consumers think about your product or service.

A company may have a product that is used entirely or primarily by African Americans.  In that case, it makes sense for them to use a company like African American Voice to poll African Americans.

In another case, a company may be interested in the opinions of African Americans, who may or may not be their primary demographic.  It's still a legitimate market research task.

There are over 100 active offers on the site.  If you really can't handle ONE OF THEM being restricted to black people when you're white... well... I suggest you take a hard look at yourself and your biases.

I agree Admins...its really not that big of a deal...i take survey after survey that asks if i consider myself 'latina'...and i realize that being hispanic is muli-racial...blacks.whites.browns can all be 'hispanic'....not to mention America is turning browner by the minute, and everyone wants to get in on that financial gain...

...there needs to be more surveys with old folks in mind tho..im an April fools baby, and im gonna be old as dirt come my birthday...and i would like to voice my dang opinion bout some things...-humph-

Older folk generally don't have a lot of purchasing power (compared to younger folk) and are tougher to influence with marketing ... the money in market research follows the money in advertising.  That's why you don't see many surveys targeted at older folk -- that, and many are eager to give their opinion so there is no need to pay people to sign up or take surveys :)

I guess ur right. im a helluva lot more frugal with my money then most young folks...i raised my son the same way...we spend money on what we need...and worry bout what we want much later.

...which is why my son has money in the bank and most of his peers do not...
