Title: DOES SIZE REALLY MATTER??
Post by: GUESSWORKZ on October 10, 2010, 06:10:03 pm
WHEN  GETTING AN ENGAGEMENT RING DOES IT REALLY MATTER THE SIZE OF THE DIAMOND OR THE FACT THAT SOMEONE IS WILLING TO PROPOSE TO YOU ?

Doesn't matter to me in fact to me a ring is a waste of money I don't even want one.  I'm not a jewelry wearing person.  I'd rather use that money for to help towards a down payment on a house than to waste a couple thousand dollars on a hunk of metal.

It's going to sound cliche but it shouldn't be about the ring, it should be about your love for one another.  Just like the wedding should be about you and what you want not about the guests.

My ring isn't huge by any means, it was $500 or so and he got it on sale for $150 which was awesome.  We're doing justice of the peace and then a party.  I'm glad I found someone that shares the same values/thoughts as I do when it comes to marriage.

I guess it depends on you.  Do you like stuff like that do you already wear stuff like that.  My husband gave me a 1ct marque diamond that he chose.  If he chooses what can you say.  If you go together then have in your mind what you want and don't want.  If you want just a band then get matching ones.  If money is an issue then go to a *bleep* shop look there can get plenty of really good rings/bands there.

size really shouldn't matter....its about how genuine the love is...plus, larger is generally more expensive-so why not save money for more important needs?

I DON' T THINK THE RING SIZE SHOULD MATTER. WHAT SHOULD MATTER IS THE FACT THAT BOTH PEOPLE ARE IN LOVE AND WILLING TO MAKE A LONG TIME COMMITTMENT TO EACH OTHER THAT GOING TO REQUIRE MORE THAT THE SIZE AND AMOUNT OF THE RING. WHEN I GOT ENGAGED TO MY HUSBAND HE GAVE ME A LITTLE DIAMOND, BUT AS TIME WENT ON HE KEPT ON INCREASING THE SIZE OF THE RING, BUT TO THIS DAY AND AFTER HIS DEATH I STILL WEAR MY ORIGINALLY ENGAGEMENT RING. IT WAS THE RING HE GAVE ME FROM THE BOTTOM OF HIS HEART SO IT MEANS THE MOST TO ME!!

I totally agree with dreamyxo. get something incredibly simple and use that money for something that help you both long term.

i don't think size of the ring matters at all.
I have an "average" ring, but some would say it is small, others would say it is big....
Either way - my hubby picked it out and so it's "Just Right"  :)

It depends on what kinda woman ur willing to marry , if she's so concerned on the size of it and ur breaking ur bank for a 10 thousand however much ring just for her? Lol then u have already set urself up lol...I think its the thought of someone willing to propose to them that counts ..I think a lot of couples are missing that point theses days

well my fiance let me pick out my ring so i love it but i dont care he could have got me a 50 dollar one from a *bleep* shop and i never would have thought twice about saying yes. if you love a person it shouldnt matter and if it does you dont need to be with them.
