Why can ppl stand up n question God.
why DO peaople stand up an question god?
because god hasen't shown himself/herself/itself or revealed himself/herself/itself to the world. he/she/it ignores the problems we have, which forces us to question him. you know who just follows without questions? slaves. and sheep.

People stand up and question g-d because it is in our nature.  I have always believed that my g-d would want me to be able to make a well-educated, conscious decision before worship because otherwise my devotion may not mean much...if I'm a blind believer, and I don't struggle with right and wrong...what good am I?

Jacob was renamed Israel in the Bible...meaning "one who struggles with g-d".  Moses also struggled with g-d.  There is nothing wrong with questioning.

There is nothing wrong with questioning.  However, if you just question, and never try to find the answers, then your beating the wind.  The answers are in His Word.  Ah, now here's the rub.....do you believe His Word?  That's where He shows and reveals Himself.

There's been many times I've struggled with something, and through prayer and study of the Bible, I get the answer. I go to others that are my teachers and spiritual authority, and they can sometimes help point me in the right direction also.  Are there things I don't understand.....sure!  However, the more I live my Faith, the more I find the answers for my life, and know who holds my future in His Hands.

Everybody has to trust in something, or put their faith in something.  There is a place deep within us that cries out for that understanding and a longing to know our Creator.

That's where your faith (believing in what you actually cannot see) comes in and being able to trust in genuine belief in God.

Yeah, like to the starving and dying children who can't even get medical care and die at ge 2-3 or before the even turn 1 in afganistan and north korea. and to the homeless people who are homeless at no fault of their own all over the world.

The one thing that has always gotten me is that people that believe in god are supposed to accept everyone.. BUT... if you don't believe in god, they (the ppl that do believe in god) make you feel like crap, tell you you're wrong... etc.

It's obvious you haven't read many threads on this forum.  You need to pull up some threads, and read through them, and then tell me if the Christians on here are just trying to make people feel bad.  Your statement is hardly fair.  The atheists and agnostics on this forum have done a pretty good job of verbally burning Christians at the stake.

Also, you need to evaluate what is actually making you feel like "crap" (as you put it).  Could it be something in the Bible they have brought out?  If it is, then it's not the person, it's the Bible that you have a problem with.  Most of the Christians on here love everybody, and post such.

Dawns post was quite a generalization, I am one believer(although not Christian) and I know many more who believe in everyones rights to believe in whatever they believe in,as long as they are not using it as justification to victimize others and we don't believe in others trying to degrade them or attempt to assimilate them into their own beliefs.

Degrade them?  Assimilate them?  Victimize them?  Do you even read over what you write?  You need to go back and read over some of your own posts when using the words you just did.  LOL  Your too funny!

But haven't you realized yet he only shows himself to those who are in a coma state of mind. I will call them desperate housewives.
And to answer the real question at hand, because logic & science makes a great argument against the so called god. If someone worshipped lets say a pickle you would stand up and ask why,, well so do people on the god issue. I have not seen more hate come from life but from the god word... Wars starting,, in god we trust,,, pffff. Forums like this debating but yet not really people fight over what??? the god word. My daughter was held down and beat last week, yes you can actually look it up on my hometown newspaper,, why the GOD that so many people throw themselves upon. God is nothing more than a judgemental word and a cash cow for churches.

Good post, AmyT. What, you have never heard of the Church of the Gherkin? ;)
I am stunned by what happened to your daughter. I am so sorry to hear that and have to wonder what it was about, but that is up to you to share IF you choose. I honestly can't say what I would do if that happened to one of mine. >:(

Actually there was a time when I went to church... after I left, the people of the church put me and others down, telling us that we were wrong, and that we made a huge mistake, and that if we don't accept Christ into our life, we would forever burn. The people who were from my church, that claimed to be my brothers and sisters, shunned me and others because we left. I'm not saying that every Christian puts non believers down, but in my experience, 99% of Christians do.

And I have read the forums, and I spoke my opinion once and was told to "STFU" by a supposed Christian. (and what I said had nothing to do with that person at all. She was just angry because I had my own beliefs.

Unfortunately there are wolves among sheep.  Not all churches are the same.....or friendly.  A church building will not save you, and nobody has the right to dictate your Salvation.  Only the Bible can do that.  If you are not being fed the right spiritual meat or teaching, then your leaving is not wrong.  I tell people all the time, if what is being preached and taught does not line up with the Bible, then you need to find a church that does.  It's not your belief, or my belief, it's what the Bible says.  Of course I'm assuming you believe the Bible?

I'm sorry you were shunned.  Not knowing both sides of the story, I can't, and won't make a call here.  Whomever wrote "STFU" to you, does not sound like any Christian that I'm familiar with on the FC forum.  Your certainly entitled to post on this forum whatever you want. Yes, there will be disagreements to what you believe, or I believe, or anybody else.  However, being rude is uncalled for in any venue.

I hope you will give God a chance to let him speak His love to you, and that you will not hold Him responsible for His very flawed humanity.  Sometimes we get our eyes on man, when in actuality we should have our eyes on God.  I hope you find a loving church and body of Christ who are truly happy to include you in their family.

Why can people stand up and question god? Because human beings are able to believe whatever they want to and question whatever they want to. IT is in our nature, and its also what makes the world go round.Belief in god has much controversy surrounding it, so naturally people will question.  In other words, its normal. Changes wouldn't occur in this world without questioning everything!

Those churches (representing certain religious sects/faiths) that "abused little boys" do not mean all churches do that.  Most "churches" (believers) do not approve of what was/is happening in those particular churches.

Where is all this hostility coming from?  And why are you running headlong into this forum with the over-generalizations?
