Title: Limewire is in big trouble
Post by: marieelissa on October 28, 2010, 02:42:45 am
Limewire is being taken to court for copyright infringement. It turns out it is illegal!!

I found a better site for MP3 downloads though!! mp3va.com and it is 15 cents a song. I got ripped off at Rhapsody and Emusic. I paid for music and then it disappeared off my Mp3 player.

When I read about this yesterday, there was a link to an article from PCWorld. There is another free site called FrostWire...just google it and you'll get the download link. It's just like LimeWire...

I never used Limewire anyway, because I heard that a lot of people got viruses from there. I have used emusic in the past, and I liked it, but I don't currently subscribe. Usually I look for free song downloads as a bonus for making various purchases, etc.

Does anyone not get ripped off by Rhapsody? I read all their terms and everything to make sure I was getting what I wanted. I can't remember what I paid, but it was a good chunk of money. Then come to find out I could barely do anything with the music I bought. When I tried to get my money back, they told me no refunds, but I kept on and on and on until I finally got my money back. Never again!!

WOW, ok it will be interesting to see what happens with it. I use it all the time. But may have to go with something else now. Maybe I will try the frostwire. Will look it up and see what it is like.
Thank you for the information..

@anguyen21 and everyone - NEVER use Limewire, Utorrent, any Bitorrent programs because it is 100% illegal and you'll get caught someday!!  I had someone downloading Call of Duty World War 4 on my internet right outside my house and I could of been responsible for $250,000/2 years in jail.  NEVER download anything illegally....I know it's never worth paying full price....but....would you rather pay (example) $50 or $250,000/2 jail yrs?

Seems like Limewire is in a whole lot of trouble!!!  According to the article, "More Trouble for LimeWire" eight music publishers filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against LimeWire claiming that this company has engaged in copyright infringement on a massive scale.  Gotta be very careful what you download!!

I doubt they can even shutdown limewire, because they found a loop hole and are using it :). This is why limewire is still up, They in no way provide any files of any sort, what there software does is allow other people to share there files with others on the net. When you download a file it isn't from any limewire server its from someone else's PC, and you also get messages warning that you may be downloading a file that is copyright protected and don't download it if its against your countries law etc. So I think Limewire will survive this, legally there in the clear.

I very veryyy rarely pay for my music. I'm a music fanatic, so if I were to pay for it all, I'd be completely and utterly SCREWED. The only time I buy my music is at concerts when you get to meet the bands if you buy a CD. =]
