Have you seen this article yet? What are your thoughts on it?

I have many gay friends. They have been the light of my life.
Support your kids no matter what.

Amy, that was just beyond cool, thank you so much for sharing it! If I were face to face, I would grab that woman up in a hug so tight she would probably stop breathing. I would love, with your permission, to share that with a whole lot of my friends. I know the words would be appreciated by each and every one of them and especially a doctor I have worked with for 10 years now. He and his wife happen to be going through a rough time (that's putting it mildy) with their 13 year old son who is gay. The problem is not with them or their son, it is with all the bigots who have chosen to make their negative feelings quite known in a downright ugly and nasty way. :angry7: I know Jonathan would love to read this and have his wife and son by his side while doing so.
Thank you - even though it made me cry and now I'll be thinking about that while trying to get some sleep for work tonight. :P ;)

You are more than welcome to share it with anyone you wish! A bunch of my friends on Facebook actually shared it with me. It resonated with me, especially with the onslaught of news stories about gay bullying... and I believe that bullying is a learned behavior... especially from incidents like the one in this article. People are entirely too judgmental about others.
Makes me wanna sing a certain Paul McCartney-James Bond song, actually...

This kid is going to grow up and be more hardcore than Patton.

Or a boy named Sue...

So what? He'll still be hardcore!

Amy, I already printed it out and am taking it to work with me tonight as a matter of fact. A copy of it is going up on the 'free for all' board in the docs lounge and I am giving one to my friend. I also sent the link to about 20 people so far and will do more tomorrow. I am just so glad you put that on here. It cuts to the chase, IMO.

God bless this mother heart, and all the mothers that understand their children who have a different sexual preferences

I'm not trying to resurrect an old topic here. I just wanted to post this. The author of the original blog about her son's Halloween costume has posted an update. Here is the link for those who are interested.

TBH, the first thing I wondered after reading the update was: which of those women (ABC) were having sex with either the pastor or the Elders. Horrible thought, I know, but it just popped up. How else would those women hold such sway over an event that is otherwise "he said, she said" and no names were named. (Although I'm sure that there are plenty of other, more innocent reasons...)
Those women should be shamed for their intolerance and lack of common sense. I noticed on the original blog, one of the readers posted the best point about how children learn such negative characteristics from adults (although I don't know if she meant to):

It sounds like you have a wonderfully special little boy, and you are a wonderful Mom! As I read this post, my 3-year-old saw the picture (of the fabulous Daphne costume, seriously, he looks awesome), and the first thing he said was “that boy’s sitting on a pumpkin”. It always makes me smile when I’m reminded to focus on the important things by my toddler :).
That is a wise toddler.

He's still your son! Always support and love your son no matter what decisions he makes for himself. Sometimes life doesn't always turn out the way you pictured it would for him, but just know your kids are the most important thing in life. They need to be loved no matter what! Your son is going to be who he wants to be no matter what kind of support he gets from his family, but if it were me I'd rather him be apart of my life and to support him than for him to be afraid to come home and I never see him. ;)

Not to be snarky, but did you read either of the articles? You completely missed the point if you didn't.

Wow, just because he dressed as Daphne does not mean he will grow up to be gay; it just means he likes Scooby Doo!
