It is so very hard for me to shop for guys, holiday or not. I feel like I always go the sports route, which is usually a success, but any other recommendations for good gift ideas for my friends, husband, Dad, and Granddad?!

I totally agree with you, shopping for men is really hard. one thing that i have realized is that believe it or not a lot of guys really like getting massages. So a good gift idea might be a gift certificate for a massage...that is if you don't want to go the sports route lol.. my boyfriend asked me this year if i could get him a truck...needless to say i dont think that will be happening lol

Well if you know them really well just ask them what they like. Most guys love video games like modern warfare, mafia 2, grand theft auto. Stuff like that. Now if it's for an older man like your father or grand-father, I'd say a bottle of some great smelling cologne or some socks, or a nice pair of jeans that you know for a fact he would wear. Usually, guys are dropping hints all year round. Like right now my husband's been telling me that he needs a new watch, so guess what a new watch it is. lol! He also wanted an MP3 player but he bought it for himself already so that's definitely off the list. Now a man can never have too many watches just like a woman can never have too many shoes or purses.

Guys are hard to shop for. I found a website that I like to use for ideas. It's findgift.com. You enter in the persons age, gender, interests or personality and it comes up with all kinds of ideas. For example, my Dad loves reading and camping but he's always content with what he has. IF he wants something he buys it himself. So I went on that website and it gives you random and unique ideas.

Me too.. This year we have drawing for "secret santa"... I have my brother and every single time I had him it's a misery.

I never have any trouble shopping for my fiancee. I always end up over spending on him. He is so easy to buy for. I suggest looking to see if he has any hobbies that you could get him gifts for. Such as if he likes to write, supply him with some new writing supplies.

you just described my dad, too! i really hate resorting
to coffee mugs, socks, and his favorite sports team
crap (he already has about twenty christmases worth
of that crap from me!)

my fiance is also extremely hard to shop for. he interests
are computer/music/art, so he can download anything he
wants for free and we have too much stuff on the walls
as it is... aye, aye, aye!

I really find it easy to shop for guys. Listen to them when they are talking during the year and you will know what they want. Simple.

I usually find shopping for guys easy - just pay attention to what their hobbies or interests are. If they are into sports - maybe tickets to a game, or clothing for their team. If they work on cars or do projects around the house - maybe find out some tools they'd like to have. If they are into games or "big boy" toys - find out something they want (within reason - no convertibles on a whim now... ;D). Are they into fishing - maybe pick up that special lure or fancy tackle box that would make James Bond jealous. All depends on the guy - but most I know are pretty straight forward about what they like and want.

My boyfriend is pretty easy....he LOVES Clint Eastwood and anything to do with the old west (Wyatt Earp and the like) so I usually get him a new (old) movie or video game. I bought him a book once which he liked (all about Gunfighters lol) but he's not a bookworm so I just stick with the movies. If you guys live together have him start a wish list and keep it under the "favorites"....he can save the website of anything he likes and wants and it's easier for you to know exactly what to get without having to constantly ask when gift giving occasions roll around.

I agree... If you know their interests, we're easy to shop for. I'm a techno geek, music aficionado, beer connoisseur, and an avid reader so anything along those lines are great. Even gift certificates are ok, esp. at their favorite shops. For me, GC's from Best Buy, iTunes, Barnes and Nobels, etc. would work well. And I don't think we can have too many toys; even if you keep buying sports stuff, another shirt wouldn't hurt for variety to wear for the next game.

I feel that it is always harder to shop for guys than girls. I bought a few ps2 sports game that I found on sale for my boyfriend but I don't know if we are going to see each other around Christmas. So I will give them to him at a different time.
A few ideas I have for gifts to guys are:
Video games
DVD's
Watches
Shirts
Ties
Electronics
Men's jewelry
Sports tickets

I keep a list during the year of gifts to get difficult people either when you pass by something they may like or when they mention something that they want. A good idea is to brainstorm on hobbies. for instance has these men ever mentioned that they like to fish? Or maybe they wanted to see a particular concert?

My hubby wants things for his truck - like a truck bed, in dash gps, etc. and some Grundens foul weather gear. Not sure which I'm going to do for him, but I also got him a gift certificate for this golf swing video analysis thing. Since it's on paper, I think I might give it to him for our first anniversary. :heart:

some stores have like the meat, cheese and other goodie boxes..guys in my family go crazy over those but no one ever buys them so this year im going too. my brothers into harley davidson so im getting him a book about historical ones. and for my fiancee, an mp3 player. my dad i got a new tool set to replace the ones that were rusted and damaged. video games also.

I pick a couple of stores out that have a variety of items. Usually only one or two stores. I go only once and everyone i buy for is getting something from there. If you wait until one of the days right before x-mas it's esier because you know you have to get something now and you just go with your first instinct.
