These kids don't like to do nothing but play video games all day they no nothing about good old fashion fun.

I couldnt agree more. I have a twelve year old girl and a perfect life to her would be: computer, phone (for texting), tv and video games. Its a struggle just to get her to do anything productive.

amen ! What happen to playing outside! My son is 27. When he was young he stayed outside, always active.... now he has fallen into his childhood again and he is as lazy as the rest of this new generation. The new generation doesn't want to work and when they do it is only as little as they can get away with. I could go on and on but I better not :BangHead: :BangHead:

I don't have any kids around anymore but my grandkids used to love playing outside. We went for walks and had great adventures. I miss those days :'(

i have one that used to go out and play like we used to growing up but now all he wants to do is play games and watch tv. he don't even want to help clean house

it's strange I have seen both sides. Too many kids right now obese and lazy with the attitude of entitlement. yet there are other kids who are well mannered, focus with a good sense of morals and intentions to do well in life and change society. I suppose a lot has to do with their parents and surrounding environment.

I couldn't agree more with what you have said. I have always believed that children are a reflection of their parents. I am always active, as a runner I try to encourage my son to play and be active outside. He loves outside and even though he is 2, he can run with his little feet. Being an important role model for him is what I strive to be everyday. When I was a little girl, my dad would not let me watch any TV. I used to get so mad, but now I so understand why he did that. Us parents, need to lay the rules on the table and consider our children first and their future before ours.

I would have to agree

its so true..but what can we do about it. I tried everything in my power to help them..what do u think about the wii fit.
-
Agreed. When we were younger, my cousins and I would only play video games every so often. We were more interested in spending our time outside, and didn't need some elaborate smartphones and internet to be entertained. Hah, even with the computer, teens are bored. But what can you do..

I agree.. I keep my kids as active as I can... But on a different note, laziness is also in another department... By the time I was my daughters age (8) I was cleaning my own room... If I don't clean it, it will get to where you can't see the floor.. Mind you when I say I clean it.. I mean I sweep everything into a pile and throw it away.. So she has gotten better about keeping it clean, I still have to help with certain things because she just can't do it, or I just prefer I do it right lol... but like when I was 16 I got a job, full time 40hrs a week, and went to school (co op) I had to pay for my own cell and my car insurance, my sisters whom are 4 and 6 yrs younger than me, nope... Daddy paid my sisters cell till umm.. like a couple months ago, (she is 21 almost 22) and my other sister got EVERYTHING paid for til she was 19, then my parents divorced so the funds weren't there for her. I just didn't see how the rules had changed so much.. I mean, if I was capable of doin it, why weren't they? Needless to say, my baby sister got a drug addiction that was incredibly hard to kick, and my other sister just recently got a job, because she had a baby. I feel like keeping our kids busy, and making them have some responsiblities will also help lessen the amount of druggies and teen pregnancies. I was a teen mom, but that is a LOOONG and personal story in its self.

What makes you think it's just the kids that are so lazy today? I see the same attitude reflected right here in this forum all the time, give people a gold plated opportunity for free money and all they can do is whine about how hard it is. :bs:

Sounds like a "Virus" ... my 10 year old son has it too.

I have only been on here for two days, and I know exactly what your talking about, there is almost more compaining about, either how much a payout is or how long a survey takes, or this that and the other, come on, its basically free money and if your infront of the computer anyways, y not get 25 cents here and there.. or whatever. I definitely didn't mean its JUST kids with MY personal post, but since the subject line was about kids, I only spoke of that. But there are PLENTY of lazy adults

I wish that I had a buck for every time I heard someone complain about 'kids today'. "Kids today have bad attitudes. They expect everything to be handed to them. Kids want everything easy. Kids have no self-discipline. Kids think they are entitled to everything. Kids today don't want to work for anything. Kids today have a terrible 'work ethic'..." Why are there so many problems in our culture with entitlement, expectations and lack of work ethic? Very simple. Adults misunderstand the concepts of reward and gifts. When adults and parents misunderstand these concepts they communicate misinformation to children. In order to properly discipline (regulate) anything, the concept of reward must be understood by the giver and the recipient. The differences amongst given things isn't what is given, but for what purpose it is given and how it is received. Here is a description of purposes that give things to children: benefits(needs), gifts, prizes, awards and rewards.

Technology definitely plays a part in this, as most people don't have to work that hard to communicate with each other. When I was younger, if I wanted to catch up with friends, I would have to walk or bike ride to other people's houses, now we can do all this through phone and internet.
