I am in the same boat as you . I get started and something happens and I get off of it. My doctor put me on the Alli and so far I am seeing it work. Yo can buy it any were over the counter. I am down a pant size in a little over a month. I only take one aday instead of one with each meal. This is per doctor advice. It will keep you in bathroom if your not careful with this one. I take it with my bigest meal with the first bite. It stops you from absorbing any fat from the meal your eating and so far I doing ok with it. Hope this helps. :cat:

I was haiving that problem some but I tried changing the way I eat. I remebered the idea of chewing you food 32 times that was always being told to me when I was a kid. I do not chew that much but I have been slowing down on how quickly I eat. I found that about 1/2 to 3/4 ways through what I use to each for amount I am stating to get full. Then once I feel a little full I stop. I have been having more left overs and more in the way of wasted food also. That is the other part that has been helping me is getting it out of my head that you have to "clean your plate". I dont know about you but that was another thing drilled into my head when I was a kid. I have also been doing I have a a small craving for somthing I will have a little of it and then is does not come back quickly. If I deny my craving completely later when I just cant take the craving any more I PIG out on the item and just reversed everything that I just did. So far just from the change in eating and the though of cleaning off the plate in a month I have lost about 10 LBs. Now I just need to exercise more and really start dropping. Also if you try this having little snacks like crackers or somthing small (low in cals) helps get me through the inbetween meals.

I have lost 79 pounds and I still need to lose 20-30 more. I had twins and a baby close together and gained a lot of weight for the pregnancies. Dieting is really not easy
I have tried all diets. Even fad diets I shouldn't have tried. I wouldn't suggest doing any extreme dieting or fad diets because most are unhealthy and you gain all the weight back.
I suggest the best thing you can do instead of dieting is portion your meals and drink more water. Water makes you feel full quicker.
How I lose 79 pounds the right way:
Portion
What I do is I bought smaller plates or used salad plates when it came time to eating.
Portioning really helps even if it's only 1/4 of a difference in the portion it goes along way.
I started off taking small portions of my meal off and then made it half the portions. I made sure I didn't starve myself and that I ate a sufficient amount.
Enough not to feel hungry and less then getting full.
Drink Water before meals
I also drank a glass of water ( approx 8-16 oz.) before lunch and dinner. This curbed my appetite and helped me keep hydrated.
A lot of people don't realize that sometimes their stomach isn't telling them they are hungry but rather it's thirsty.
Also I noticed while drinking more water my skin glowed more and acne wasn't a issue anymore.

Foods that help you Burn Fat
Eggs are super high in protein and can help you burn that unwanted belly fat. It contains vitamin B12 a great natural supplement for breaking down fat cells.
Of course you can't eat to many eggs it would be harmful due to it's cholesterol levels, so only eat the recommended amounts.
Oatmeal It has plenty of Fiber which helps reduce blood cholesterol by flushing those bad digestive acids out of your system.
Only catch is adding sugar or sweetening it will cancel out these benefits. If you really have to just add fruits to sweeten which won't hurt you to badly.
Olive oil is one of those "good fats". In fact, it's so good that it helps you burn fat and keeps your cholesterol down.
I have a friend who takes two spoons a day because she claims it helps her feel more energetic personally I just use it in cooking rather then vegetable oil.
Apples they absorb fat and also encourages water absorption from the food which helps in releasing the fat deposits from the body. The antioxidants in apples may help prevent metabolic syndrome and have other healthy aspects to them
Avoiding salt and sugar can shape you up very fast.
I have a lot of things I did to ensure I lost my weight and kept it down. I didn't do your conventional dieting to lose the 79 pounds. Diets always failed I always was tempted to eat yummy foods. So I just portioned and instead of grabbing a sweet treat I would grab a apple or fruit.
Of course on occasion I yielded to temptation but I made sure not to do it often.

I agree with you going on a diet has never really worked for me so I started to just eat more real food like more salad fruits and veggies and definitely I do the portion control thing also Congratulations on your weight loss keep up the good work 3 babies How do you have time for you Happy New Year :notworthy:

I agree with what SyntheticBeauty - some other things I did were to keep a bowl of fresh fruit or a bag of nuts for snacks. Rather than eat chips or cookies, I'd eat some grapes, apple or pear (if I was craving sweet) or a handful of nuts (if I was craving salt).
What was said about drinking water is true. The basic rule is if you feel hungry in the middle of the day, first drink a glass of water. If you are no longer hungry after 15 minutes, you were just thirsty. If your hunger goes away, then you no longer has the urge to eat.
If you drink a lot of soda/pop - slowly get yourself to drinking water instead. How I did it was slowly switched a can of soda for a glass/bottle of water, until I only drank water. Didn't take as long as I thought it would have.
Aside from food choice/portion changes - for exercise, the important think is to just keep yourself moving regularly. I'd suggest try to find something you'd like to learn or enjoy doing and sign up for classes, or get friends together, or just go on your own. I've done hiking various trails at state parks during the summer, took dance lessons, took skating lessons. There's also sports teams you can look to join - bowling, volleyball, soccer. Maybe look at volunteering for an animal shelter taking the dogs for walks - that way you get exercise and feel good from volunteering. The important thing is find something you will enjoy, so then your exercise won't feel so much like "work".
Other thing about exercise is once you get in the habit, depending on you choice of exercise, you may need to add some kind of weight training. Not necessarily to be a body builder, but gaining muscle mass helps burn fat more efficiently. Once caution when you start doing this, since muscle weighs more than fat, your weight may appear to increase a little - if so, don't panic - just go by how you feel when you get into your clothes. If your weight goes up, but you are fitting into your jeans easier - you are going the right direction. ;)
Everything in moderation, and being consistent is the key.

Diet and exercise. It is really as simple as that.
For diet, cut out one or two things that you KNOW are terrible for you but that you can live without. (For me it was mayo and sour cream... condiments are a high calorie killer!)
Also, keep in mind that it is LIFESTYLE CHANGE. Anything you do you really need to be able to do every day. If it's too extreme you won't stick with it. Allow yourself to eat "treats" or "special foods" in moderation.
Moderation and balance are the key to a healthy lifestyle.
And honestly. The exercise.

water and walking is good.
-
The best thing for me is not eating after about 7 or 8 pm. I have a cup of coffee of tea at around 9pm and thats it until lunch time the next day.
-
Yes, water is great before meals. Exercise at least 3 times a week. Eat lean proteins. Stay away from sugary drinks (those are a killer...I'm talking about soda, fruit juice (I only drink 100% Juice). My brother dropped 20 pounds just from cutting out sodas. He drank 5 to 6 sodas a day.

One thing to consider about weight loss and weight gain is your hormones.
If your thyroid is low, the weight won't come off as easily, no matter how much one diets or exercise. Do a Google search on thyroid, weight gain. Also do a Google search on Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome, which is sub clinical hypothyroidism. Actually, what is probably happening is that the thyroid itself may be producing the T4 hormone (which is inactive), but it's not converting to T3 (active). The T3 is the metabolism hormone. Also adrenal stress and insufficiency plays a part in that too. If stressin', then the adrenals will produce excess cortisol, which blocks the conversion of T4 to T3, and what happens is that it will make RT3 which is Reverse T3 (also inactive). On the Wilson's Temperature website, there is a list of doctors (medical and natural docs) that specialize in Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome. Taking synthetics such as Synthroid won't do it either, because the synthetic T4 will not convert to the T3. The timed release T3 made by compounding pharmacies is what resets the thyroid.
Thyroid needs available iodine to produce thyroxine (T4) naturally, before T3 conversion. Things that can block that are: Fluorine/Flouride, Chlorine and Bromine. Do a search on "Iodine and the Halogen Revolution". People's thyroids are getting plugged with bromine and fluoride. Bromine is usually in breads and other bromilated oils. See, iodine is a halogen and all the other is competing and getting stuck in the iodine receptors of the thyroid gland. Mercury toxicity can also interfere. Mercury comes from fish, dental amagalms (silver fillings), and vaccines (thimerosal).
Also avoid High Fructose corn syrup (in almost EVERYTHING nowadays). Avoid artificial sweeteners such as aspartame aka Nutra Sweet. Look up Betty Martini and aspartame to find out more.
Detoxification methods such as regular liver/gallbladder flushing, deep colon cleanses that remove the mucoid plaque (So Easy 3 Day Cleanse or Blessed Herbs). Numerous sites on that all over the internet. Liver flushes involve pure apple juice (organic), espsom salts, olive oil/fresh squeezed lemon or grapefruit juice.
Another thing is that most people don't assimilate their protein even though they eat lean protein such as eggs and fish. There is an amino acid supplement that you can search out on Google, called Master Amino Acid Pattern and SON Formulas – MAP. It is 99% Nitrogen utilized, and generates only 1% waste. What this means is that there would be no amino acid toxicity which is the main problem with over-consumption of Protein. There is not much return on investment from an efficiency point of view with traditional protein intake. With MAP, the protein is absorbed directly into the lymph in 23 minutes and does not go through the normal processing route that ends up being absorbed through the small intestine. This pre-digested protein is fully utilized in the process of building new tissue immediately.
Do a Google search on that. The best price is on Amazon, last time I checked. There are many websites that go into great detail, and I read them all to get the info and then decided on which had the best deal.
Also, there is another amino acid formula, called Platinum Plus Amino Acids, which I originally took for my spine. My disks were degenerating, and nothing would hold, so I got those specifically for my spine. They go in and start rebuilding the disks within 12 hours. A side benefit of that is also weight loss, which I found out in 2007 when my weight was dropping (25 lbs). Do a search on Doctor Brice E. Vickery and protein deficiency. You'll find the info. A side benefit of Platinum Plus is that it also detoxes mercury and other heavy metals, which is another reason my thyroid kicked back in, back in 2007. And he has all the product on his webpages.
LL's Magnetic Clay Baths will remove heavy metals, chemicals, nicotine, and more.
I take both amino acids (but not at the same time).
And another thing I was using for low back and muscle pain is systemic enzymes. Such as Vitalzym. Vitalzym decreases systemic inflammation. Overweight is also an inflammation condition, in addition to hormones. I watched a Dr. Nicholas V. Perricone infomercial on TV back in 2006 and learned that. Not only does systemic enzymes decrease inflammation, they also eat up excess fibrosis in the tissues, eat up scar tissue, eat up excess fibrin on the blood. The main enzyme in that is serrapeptase. Serrapeptase dissolves only dead tissues such as the old fibrous layers that clog the lining of our arteries and dangerously restrict the flow of blood and oxygen to the brain. Because of this, Serrapeptase is extremely useful in keeping arterial deposits from building up again after angioplasty (a balloon technique used to clear an artery blockage) or coronary bypass surgery has been performed. Serrapeptase digests non-living tissue (fibrosis), blood clots, cysts, and arterial plaque and inflammation in all forms. Serrapeptase is an enzyme derived from silk worms. It’s greatest benefit is it’s ability to dissolve amyloid plaque one of the main Aging symptoms in the body. Amyloid plaque is a byproduct of cross-linking of Protein and sugars in the body. This plaque accumulates everywhere in the body and is the source of much chronic pain in older people. Alzheimer’s disease is also an accumulation of Amyloid plaque in the brain. Good for women fibrosis diseases such as endometrosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, etc...
Look up Dr. William Wong on Systemic enzymes.
Just the combo of the amino acids and systemic enzymes in addition of detoxing excess mercury, flourine, and halogens out of my body, is what got my weight to plumment.
Also, I agree on all of the above on proper diet and plenty of water. Make sure water is pure (free from chlorine, flouride, and environmental chemicals, heavy metals, arsenic, etc... Water distillers such as John Ellis, Waterwise 9000 for distillation. For alkaline, oxygenated/ozonated, and structured water, there are machines such as Kangan, Jupiter, Melody and similar units which can be found online via a search. Food is best organic, meaning free of pesticides and commercial fertilizers. Meats should be free of growth hormones (steroids), anti-biotics, etc... In the case of eggs and chicken, free range is best.
I know this is alot, but it's what worked for us here, and we did months of researching before we found all of the above. There's more, I'm sure, but it would turn into a book. lol.

Thanks to SyntheticBeauty also for all that good advise and everyone else, I am going to try to loose this coming year, my Aunt has challenged me to loose with her. I also know what I need to do, I just have to do it, I have a total gym so I need to get my butt on it, yet I sit here on the computer. lol.. It is hard I sit down at work all day, and my schedule is hard to get into a good eating routine, however, I will try. I did already cut out alot of soda, and I have been doing green tea which they say is good too for weight loss. My friend sent me a diet from Dr Phil, not sure if it costs anything, however the one day sample she sent was not that bad. Thanks everyone for the tips and good luck...

Run, lower your fat and caloric intake, drink plenty of fluids, due strength workouts!
-
Thank you ladies for all the great information on dieting alot of it looks like it will work.
-
I was going to give up about losing weight, but reading everything here I know I will keep trying. I know that all this information is helpful, but if I do not keep trying, I can not blame anyone but myself. Thanks for the info. ;D
-
The biggest problem with lossing wieght is when you try really hard. The harder you try in most cases makes it harder. Make little changes each day makes it alot easier. If you try to make too many changes at one time it will be alot harder.
-
It will also help if u have a buddy that u can work out with. that way when u dont really feel like working out, but ur buddy does, sometimes u will do it just so they dont have to work out by there self... that way u get ur exercise. trust me I prolly wouldnt work out by myself..
-
My spouse and I work out sometimes at the gym together.
Also, regards exercise, if you can get your hands on a whole body vibration unit, those work wonders.
The oscillating kind such as Noberex K-1, Total Image, Galileo units. Vertical vibration units such as The Evolution, TheraVibe and TurboSonic.
And there are lasers for fat melting like the Lapex2000 BCS, which is a non-invasive cold laser therapy. Then there is an bi-polar RFID fat melting thing called Lipotron3000 or LipoEx, also non-invasive.
There is a massage technique that breaks up fat by Carole Maggio called No Lipo Lipo. She has a YouTube video showing how it's done. Her spa is in Rondondo Beach, CA, but there are certified practitioners throughout the country. Google search will yield the results, I'm sure.
-
I hear of those messages and all the other stuff. On the other stuff I have hear of them helping but the messages main thing it does is reshape the fat. The 3 people I knew that did the messages did drop 1-3 inches but their wieght was the same. 2 of them did start working out more and where saying they were glad that they had it done due to the wieght being moved to a different part of thier body made then feel more like moving around so the wieght was more evenly shifted through the body.

dont deprive yourself of anythiing but just cut back on the eating

I would sit "here " and tell you about a diet i would swear by. Most diets are designed just for weight loss instead the fact that regular exercise is key along with a diet! But if i have to drop weight fast i will always do the kill your self diet for 3 months be for the killing yourself starts . though this diet is combined will all sorts of diets put together. This kill yourself diet starts as follows : 1st 3 weeks the Atkins ketosis Diet {no carbs at all} sugar free candy and gun helps tricking the body that your getting carbs.:2nd the South Beach Diet for carbs intake slow climbing the carbs and sugars and finally #3: The Weight Watchers and follow a regumine thats good for you in weighing your food , For me it was a cup a cup a half a cup...
-
Be careful on the sugar-free stuff. Most has aspartame in it, and you would be setting yourself up for bigger problems later on.
There is some gum out there with Xylitol in it, which is good. That can be found in a local holistic health food store. We can get it here in our small town, at our local health food store.

I have lost almost 40 pounds since December and I have continued to keep the weight off by making the following simple changes in my life when it comes to the way that I eat and exercise.
Always eat something for breakfast, even if you are not hungry. Eat a small bowl of cereal, or have some oatmeal. Breakfast is the MOST IMPORTANT MEAL OF THE DAY!!!! It gets your metabolism going.
Eat 4-6 Times a Day When somebody first told me that I told them that they were crazy!!! I was trying to lose weight, not gain any more weight. They told me that eating more proportioned meals a day would speed up my metabolism, so I burn what I was eating a lot faster than before. And they were right. I now eat about 4 or 5 proportioned meals and I have really noticed a difference in the way that I feel. I never get really really hungry anymore and over-eat and eat everything in site. I have more energy all throughout the day. I don't crash anymore in the afternoons from being hungry.
Portions Make sure that you are eating the right size portions.
Eat Fruits and Vegetables. I eat a lot of bananas, nectarines, apples, broccoli, spinach, carrots. There are a lot of different kinds of fruits and vegetables out there. I am sure that there is something out there for everybody!!!!
Find Different Recipes and always try and make new and different things when you diet. For example I love salads, but I try and make different types of salads and I put a lot of different things in my salad like skinless chicken, hard boiled eggs, baby tomatoes, turkey bacon, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, walnuts, etc.
Exercise If you can't join a gym, or even if you don't want to leave the house, that is fine. You can exercise from the comfort and privacy of your own home. Get yourself some 5 and 10 pound hand weights. Do different exercises like Weight Training, Cardio, Yoga & Pilates. It keeps it more exciting and fun if you do a variety of exercises. And you will see that you will lose weight and inches faster by doing it this way.
I have found that there are still little ways to cheat, because not everybody can just cut out all sweets or carbs or whatever their favorite "bad" food it is that they just love and have to have. I LOVE ice cream and used to just eat an entire gallon of it like it was nothing. I have actually found some low fat yogurts that taste better than some of the ice cream that I used to eat. The ice cream that I used to eat tastes really artificial. But the new frozen yogurt that I eat tastes fresh, and it is so delicious, and it is so much better and healthier for me.
Dark chocolate is better and better for you than milk chocolate.
I love cheese, but there are a lot of new cheeses out there that are low fat or only 35 calories, and I was surprised to find that they do actually taste really really good. So I was excited because again I didn't have to give up one of my favorite foods :)
I find that it is better for me if I tell myself that I am not on a diet. If I just eat breakfast, eat 4-6 times a day, eat more veggies and fruit, find fun and different recipes, and do a variety of different exercises I lose weight and I feel great :)

I'm in the exact same boat...I started walking for like 2 hours a day a month ago...but then I started school last week and it threw me out of my groove and I can't get back into it... A few summers ago I started running every other day and lost like 15 pounds in 2 weeks...that was great...I better start that again
-
Eat healthy, turn on your favorite dance music and :bootyshake: dance :bootyshake: the pounds away.
-
walk, drink water and eat half of what you normally would.
-
I'm trying to lose weight also ;D The easiest thing for you to do is drink a HUGE glass of water before each meal, and exercise as soon as you get up, even if it's just a walk. Exercising in the morning will get your metabolism jump started and make you feel better for the rest of the day, I've even found that it makes me want to eat healthier. Good luck!
-
I same to have the same problem starting a diet and than stopping and i love potatoes chips thats what is getting me., the most., but i got to keep on trying., trying to walk it off that is the most i can do., right now.
-
Try not to think of it as dieting - those don't work because they are "temporary" changes. Instead do portion control and be sure to have food you enjoy so you don't binge and then feel guilty. Try to move around as much as possible. Clean while watching tv instead of sitting etc.
-
the at kins diet works for mr well at least it does the first 3 weeks hehe.
-
I dont mind managing my plate i just have a problem with exercise, see 6 yrs ago i broke my back in 2 places and fractured my right knee in 2 plaaces and i live out of a jazzy chair so what else can u do for exercise.
