Title: Do you like Adam Sandler?
Post by: sommap on January 18, 2011, 08:22:52 am: I used to steer away from anything he did as I thought he was not that funny and seemed to try to hard to be funny. Then I watched one of his serious movies and discovered he was really a good actor. Off hand, I don't remember the name of the movie, but it was the one where he got to live his adult life all over again. He changed from a corporate nut to a family guy. I thought it was a very good movie.

Grown-Ups was OK and there others that I thought were pretty good. Most of them have at least some funny scenes, but you kind of have to be in the right mood as the sceneraios are somewhat outrageous.

Maybe it's just me but I think that a person who can act as goofy in a movie as he has in some of his past has to be good. I know that I wouldn't be able to do that and make it believable as he does. :wave:

Anger Management & The Wedding Singer were above average. Scarily, I actually PREFER his non-comedic roles (Punch Drunk Love) to his current comedy shtick (Click).

I saw "Click". That movie showed Adam Sandler with a serious, dramatic side. He was a work fanatic in architecture and later learned to enjoyed and appreciate his time with his family. Actually, this movie was the first at which I started my streak of getting emotional when I watch movies.

Definitely, Adam Sandler is an actor I like. :thumbsup:

Post by: footemama on January 19, 2011, 12:48:08 pm: I like Adam Sandler a lot! My favorites are the ones he did with Drew Barrymore, The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates. But I liked Click, Big Daddy, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, and Bedtime Stories. I haven't really watched any of his more serious roles but I'm going to look into doing that just to see. He is one of my go-tos for comedy though like Jim Carey or Eddie Murphy.

Movies like the zohan, he tries way toooo hard to be funny and it's a turn off to be honest. I say he's pretty good but not all that.

I was in New York a few years ago and went to a cafe, asked the waitress if anyone famous had come in, and she replied that Adam Sandler had. Later that afternoon while enjoying a few cocktails at a Central Park Cafe Adam Sandler walked past, saw our delight, and did a quick song and dance. He is totally genuine!
