I don't know if I have it or not, but there are some night that I have problems going to sleep as one of my legs is very restless. I have to move it very often. If I try to keep it still, I feel like I am tying it down. It is a battle to keep it still, and of course, that doesn't help put me to sleep. Last night I ended up on the couch for a while, finally fell asleep there for a couple of hours. By the time I was ready to go back to bed, the leg stopped.

that also happens to me and sometimes i have it the whole day.

I have restless leg syndrome. The only relief I get Is by getting up and walking for at least half an hour. I always looked like a goofball because I'd be outside at 3 AM lol. Now I just walk around the apartment.

 I know what you are talking about. My sister has suffered with RLS for years. She has a difficult time going to sleep at night. When she does go to sleep, one of her legs jerks and thrashes during the night. Her room looks like a tornado hit it the next morning when she gets up; she will have her bed covers all twisted and wadded up around her head. Her husband refuses to sleep in the same bed cause of all the kicking and tossing that she does during the night. I don't remember her having this problem when she was young. If I am right she acquired this problem after her accident where she broke her back. But you know when we are young, we are able to sleep just about anywhere. She could have had it and I just didn't realize it.

My cousin has recently been diagnosed with restless leg syndrome. At first they thought that she might have sleep apnea but through testing found out that she had rls. When tested they recorded that she moved her leg 649 times during a four hour period. She is having lots of problems finding the right medication. An old wives tale that is suppose to help is to get a bar of white ivory soap put in a sock or under the sheets at the end of you bed.

I have heard of it, but not sure if I have experienced it or not. There have been times where one of my legs will twitch and then stop. So maybe I have experienced it after all.

I have it and some nights it kept me up all night... I tried everything and they all worked for a while... 1st I did the Tylenol Arthritus (sp?)... then I did the magnetic braclets (as anklets)... execising - streches, leg kicks, stuff like that does help... finally I couldn't take it anymore so I asked the doctor... she recommended Vit B and that has been working well for a while now (the longest)... I have had to up the dosage just like I had to do with the Tylenol... so it probably will stop working eventually also... but for now it is working well... just make sure you don't get the ones with the yeast... because the amount of yeast you have to take in order to get enough Vit B will cause a yeast infection... otherwise it does not matter which Vit B...

My aunt had it. Her best friend said she used to rock herself to sleep on her feet.

oh yea and massaging it helps but getting one of those at 2-3-4AM is not usually an option... but if you massage the arch of the bottom of your foot of the leg that is hurting that will help also... would probably have less often if I wore better shoes or those inserts... but those things don't work well with flip flops... :) I have noticed it is worse if I have sat with my legs bent to long that day... long car rides are horrible... I think it is poor blood circulation... hope some of this helps you out...
