Title: Health question for females?
Post by: dawn21207 on February 09, 2011, 11:26:27 pm
Ok, females out there.. I haven't had a period since Dec. 1st, I have severe pelvic pain (like doubling over), I have shooting pains in my right breast, and I am NOT NOT NOT NOT pregnant. I've been to the hospital and they went over everything... blood work.. ultrasound... and they came up with no results. I don't have a cyst, and I am 150% not pregnant. I have researched this, and alot of times the results come up with ovarian cancer, which is very scary..... so I just need other female's advice. Has anybody ever experienced anything like this before?

Oh and btw, when I was at the hospital in the ER the nurse told me that I need to be seen by a gyno ASAP because those symptoms were very abnormal...  :- :- ??? ???

It's very good that you'll be seeing a doctor on Friday because you just never know.  I had something similar years ago with pelvic pain but not up in the chest.  Mine turned out to be spasms - sounds very benign but it was an awful shooting pain unlike anything else.  I don't know what brought them on or why but using a heating pad helped and they finally went away.  Good luck and I hope your problem is easily solved.

Good luck at the doctor! I hope everything turns out ok. I haven't heard of these symptoms before but hopefully it isn't serious.

wishing you luck.
female issues are scary for sure.
don't let the dr.'s ignore it - they are quick to write things off as one thing or another -- make sure you get your answers.
there are likely more tests to come, hang in there!

thank you to everyone. I do hope that it is something simple like spasms, and that they can find an answer quick since it is getting increasingly worse.

Sorry to hear that you are having health problems not to mention the fact that you have not had a period for a while. One thing your symptoms may point to is pelvic inflammatory disease. It is very painful and can cause all the symptoms you are experiencing. If left untreated it may cause infertility so it is a good idea to have it checked out by a gynocologist. Don't accept a "theres nothing wrong with you" answer and push to get to the bottom of your symptoms. Good luck.

You might want to try reading up a little about endometriosis.  It is the most commonly underdiagnosed reproductive disorder in women, and severe pelvic pain is common with it.  I would suggest reading about polycystic ovarian syndrome, but the cysts would have appeared on an ultrasound.  Good luck with your doctor appointment.

Sounds like PID, endometriosis, and fibrosis/

scar tissue and hormonal imbalances and energy blockages.

Go outside of the mainstream and get checked by biofeedback such as QXCI-SCIO, Quantum Life.

Do a google search on Clear Passage therapies and find out how their specialized massage and PT techniques help with breaking up scar tissue caused by endo, infections, inflammations and other bio-mechanics.

Do a google search on blood stasis, liver qi congestion, kidney qi deficiency and spleen qi deficiency.  Look up Michael Berkley on the Berkley Center in New York.  He's a well known acupuncturist for female reproductive issues and infertility.

For inflammation, look up Systemic Enzymes, Vitalzym, Serrapeptase, and Dr. William Wong's article called "Women's Fibrosis diseases" and "Fibrosis, The Enemy of Life".

Look up detoxification on Google.  Detoxification is a wide range of various detox therapies and life style.

There are many lifestyle changes that may have to be made, such as quitting all dairy products (have genetically engineered bovine growth hormone steroids which have been implicated in cancers).  Raw food diets and going all organic and using green products.  No personal female products bleached with dioxins (contributes to endometriosis).  Liver flushes, colon cleanses, heavy metal detox, removal of mercury amalgams and root canals, etc...

Look up Dr. Hulda Clark's "The Cure For All Diseases".  Look up Magnetic Clay baths.

There's ALOT of alternatives out there.

Good luck with everything!  based on the symtoms your having it sounds like endometriosis.  I like to refer to  webmd.com for health questioons whenever I'm curious about health symptoms.  They have a symtom checker that will give you several diagnosis possibilities based on the symtoms you are having.

This has been the best response I have read so far!  Alternative medicine should be looked at for most diseases and conditions.  During my extensive reading on the subject, the vast majority of our health problems stem from the foods we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breath.  The food is full of hormones and genetically modified "stuff", the water is contaminated with other peoples medications which are flushed down the toilet, as well as mercury and fluoride.  The air has been contaminated with you name it.  Our cells are not reproducing at the level nor the structure they were intended.  Detoxing is key.  See what your doctor thinks, then get a second opinion, and then check out the information above.  My prayers go out for your better health.

THank you for that. I am definetly going to look into that, and I am for sure going to change my diet, cause I'm sure that my weight is one of the reasons for my problems.

Thank you to everyone else also. The dr said he believes that I am having muscle spasms, and that the reason I have not gotten a period is because of my weight. He wrote me a RX for some medicine that is supposed to get my period going. And, he wants me to get to a healthier weight. I'm not sure that I'm satisfied with this answer, but I will try and go from there. I can live without a period.. I just want the pain to go away. I will keep everyone updated.

I too visited the E.R a few days ago over horrible cramping. They did a pregnancy test which was negative. The doctor told me I either have an Infection or a cyst on my ovary. Ovarian cancer runs In my family. I just finished antibiotics and am planning to see my gyno pretty soon.

Will be praying for you.  If what the Doctor suggest does not work keep seeking.  Doctors do not know everything and my experience is that if it is not in their realm of focus they have difficulty helping you.

I am going to the Dr. on friday, so hopefully they will know something. But I'm anxious, I want to know something.

:- :- ??? ???

Dont panic, there are many things it could be. Ovarian cancer is just the scariest. I ahve had similar symptoms and was diagnosed with PCOS... Though i didnt have any large cysts that needed removing, I still had abnormal hormone levels which caused the weird period changes.  Hang in there!

I am not sure but since I had my last child 21 years ago for awhile I had these symptoms, they always seemed to happen around the time that my monthly cycle was supposed to start though, but definitely see a specialist for these, because the nurse that told you t could very well be right, I hope the best for you and goodluck!

Polycystic ovarian syndrome.  A simple google search will explain it better than I could.

Did you see a general practitioner or an ob/gyn?

I began having issues with my period at 16, and it was sometimes so painful I couldn't get out of bed.  I finally had a laporoscopy and was diagnosed with endometriosis right before I turned 18.  I have been seeing the same doctor, and she never once blamed my weight for my issues.  She did not, however, beat around the bush that I needed to lose weight.  The thing that helped the most was going on birth control where I had very few periods a year (I would suggest a pill rather than a shot... its been years since I went off Depo and I still suffer symptoms from it).  I was able to defy reason and have a child nine years after my diagnosis.  Try a heating pad and get a referral to a specialist.  If you don't find a good ob/gyn to help, look into finding a reproductive endocrinologist.  Keep the faith, keep your head up, and keep looking for answers, because you will find one.

[This is what is happening to me exactly right now, but I just had a miscarriage. It was also Dec. 1, but you would know that you had a miscarriage, you definitely need to check into some different obgyn's to find out what is wrong with you,and don't stick with a first opinion. I am so upset at the hospital for telling me one thing then another right now. You never trust anyone, you get another opionion.

I saw an obgyn. He never mentioned endometriosis. He does want me to get to try an IUD since I don't plan on having anymore children for a while. I started taking my RX this morning, (its female hormones.) And so far nothing has changed. I was really hoping that I would get my period, and the pain would go away.. I just want to be normal.. lol. If I haven't gotten my period by Monday, I will probably call the dr. to see if they want me to continue taking the meds.

The prescription may take up to a week before it will jumpstart your period.  For your sake, I hope it isn't endometriosis, because its quite the pain in the behind to deal with.  I have Mirena, and I haven't had a period or cramps in quite some time.

Thank you, and update... um things are the same.. I have been taking my Provera for 3 days now. I haven't gotten my period, and I have started getting pains in both of my *bleep* when I breathe. I have researched this, and this is common because Provera is a hormone. So, I hope that things get better.

Could you have been and had a miscarriage and not known it, it happens in 1 in 4 pregnancies.

No, I highly doubt that it was a miscarriage, but that is something that I never thought about.
I personally have no idea, I hope your alright though =/

Thank you, and I'm sure that I will get it worked out eventually.

Another thing you may want to look into that I didn't see mentioned is to see a nutritionist.  If your doctor thinks part of the problem is muscle spasms, that could be a result of not having the proper mix of minerals in your system.  Depending on your diet, activity and age - the balance of nutrients you need changes.

An example from my experience is I'm fairly athletic, and over the past couple years have been experiencing, with increasing frequency, severe muscle spasms in my neck/shoulders/upper back and calves.  I always passed it off as not stretching enough after my training, but got a consultation, and was told to start taking some magnesium and occasional potassium supplements.  Once I started taking those, a couple weeks later the spasms have pretty much gone away - now it's just a matter of fine tuning how much I need.

So in your case, a nutritionist may help determine if the source of any muscle spasms may be related to a mineral imbalance, and taking the right supplements may help relieve those.

Good luck - I hope you find a solution soon to eliminate the pain you are in.

I just wanted to say I hope everything turns out ok or fixable. May you feel better and everything turn out good for you. If you feel something not right make sure they check everything possible. If one test says its ok and you don't feel that is correct make them check something else. You know your body better than anyone. Good luck and God speed.

I have had a lot of similar problems, actually. What I was told is that there are cysts inside my ovaries that are not bursting and causing pain and causing hormone fluctuations. I'm not saying thats what it was but it sounds like my problem. I hope everything works out for you though and I'll say a prayer.

You could also do a hair analysis and it would show what minerals you are lacking (some of them).  Also the biofeedback such as a Quantum Life or QXCI/SCIO.

Live blood cell analysis would also be good to have.  You would probably have to Google for some in your area that does those.  All of the above is done by alternative/holistic practitioners, although I've seen some MDs that use the above methods too.

i would like to look into these methods, are they pricey? Part of the reason I have not went to more drs is because I have no insurance right now.

UPDATE: Pain, the same. I'm pretty much used to it now though. Have finished my rx of Provera, and still no sign of a period. Have to call the dr. tomorrow. I'm sure they will just want me to take another 5 days of it.   :BangHead:

Don't know where you are in the country, but in my area, I've seen consultations be around $20-$50 depending on where you go and specials running.  I'd suggest asking your doctor if they have a recommendation, then use the yellow pages to ask around.  May want to try calling places like massage practices or chiropractors or other alternative health businesses.  Most would probably have some recommended places for you to call and ask for their consultation prices.  Many typically have discounts for new clients that you could take advantage of.

Glad to hear there's some progress in your pain management.  I'll keep hoping and praying you can eventually find the source so you can make it go away permanently.

Keep trying to find out what is going on. I know Doctors tend to just dismiss women's problems. I hope you feel better.

Yet another update:
My period is officially 51 days late. Since I've finished my Provera, and still no sign of a period, I've called the Dr office twice. I've left messages because neither time there was an answer. I'm getting angry because no one is returning my call. Pain is worsening. And I'm having completely off the wall emotions. I LITERALLY cried over spilled milk earlier.. lol.    :BangHead:    :BangHead:     :BangHead:

Maybe I'm not meant to have a period. That happens to some people, right?

I have no suggestions for you that haven't already been voiced, but just want to reiterate what was said earlier - you know your body! Do not let them poo poo your pain nor try to dismiss it as 'all in your head'. When my daughter was 16 she had an ovarian cyst, the (male) gyno didn't want to give her anything for pain - said it wasn't that bad. I flew off the handle & ask him how he wouls know? & if he had ever had an ovarian cyst! I did & it had ruptured so I knew what she was going through.

I understand the lack of insurance, but try to find a clinic that bases the office charge on your income or just go to the ER. Most hospitals will work with you on the payments, even write off the bill if you can't afford to pay.

Years ago, 3 after months after seeing my gyn I found a lump in my breast, was having cramping etc. I had no insurance & had just been laid off from my job. I went to Planned Parenthood which was dirt cheap. They found that I had cervical, uterine & colon polyps, plus the cyst in my breast. For a few months I felt I was living at the doctors' offices - needless to say never saw that gyn again!

Good luck sweetie & keep calling the doc till you get this resolved or as I suggested, just go to the ER.
I will keep watching for updates.

Thank you for the advice. I have been to the er for the pain, and they gave me Hydrocodone for the pain. But as far as everything else, they said that I have to see a gynocologist because they couldn't find the source of the pain. I now have insurance through my father, but I still have to pay 25.00 per office visit. WHich doesn't sound like alot, but is. I have searched for clinics in my area, and there aren't any.  But thank you so much for the support. I hope that soon I can post an update that everything is ok. =)
