Title: Recipe for Great Pork Chops even I can't mess up!
Post by: tigerlilly01 on February 17, 2011, 04:53:23 am
I have always had problems cooking pork chops because they are so dry but this is a great and easy recipe.... which allows a side dish at the same time.

Apple Glazed Pork Chops
         1/2 cup apple Jelly
   1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
   1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
   1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
2 small baking apples, cored and sliced  ( I used 3 medium apples)
   4 (1-inch thick) pork chops
Directions:
1   HEAT broiler. Combine jelly, allspice, cinnamon and cloves in saucepan; cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until jelly melts. Keep warm.
2   PLACE pork chops on rack in broiler pan. Broil 5 inches from heat, 7 minutes on each side.
3   REMOVE from oven. Brush one side with jelly glaze; broil three minutes. Flip and brush other side with glaze; top with apple slices, and drizzle with remaining glaze. Broil three minutes. Serve immediately.
(TO HAVE A SIDE DISH OF APPLES PUT APPLES TO THE SIDE AND DRIZZLE WITH YOUR REMAINING GLAZE ... CHOPS AND APPLES ARE PERFECTLY DONE.

Pork chops is one of my wife and I's favorite meats.

Try this for something different.

Take boneless porkchops and thaw them out if frozen. Poke a bunch of holes in both sides with a fork.
Put them in a ziplock bag and then pour in your favorite marinade. Lawrey's makes some amazing 30 minute marinades. We love the Baja Chipotle on chops but there are a ton out there that are great on Pork. Pour some marinade on the chops in the bag and let em sit in the bag for 30 minutes to get them up to room temperature. That's important, meat cooks better when it's at room temperature.

Heat your grill to high heat.
Throw them on there, 5 minutes a side. Don't move your meat around unless theres a flare up.
10 minutes you have perfectly cooked porkchops.

The chemistry of how pork works makes it a very good thing to go with apples.

Most bacon is smoked with apples so transitioning that over to other porks makes it a very good flavor combination.

It sounds like a tasty recipe but the cooking time sounds too long. How thick are your chops?

Thanks for the recipe - I'll have to try this one.  I got some pork chops recently and really had no idea what I was going to do to prepare them.  This one sounds really yummy!
