Title: what are you reading?
Post by: tjshorty on February 28, 2011, 07:32:11 am
Now that I don't have t.v.  I find myself reading more.  I never realized that I do enjoy it.  I am reading "The Hiding Place" by Trezza Azzopardi.  It started out slow, but it is getting really interesting now.  While reading this I think, even though times have changed people really don't.  All I am going to say about it is "that poor family".  It is a good story.  Although I don't think it ends that way, but I am not sure.

My husband got a kindle for his birthday, so naturally I stole it from him.  I take it with me to my new job and on my breaks I've been switching between "Sense and Sensibility" and "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters."  Its so much more amusing that way.  Plus, the thought that Edward's sister, the infamously evil Mrs. Dashwood, might get eaten by a giant squid makes her behavior slightly more tolerable.

Borders is having great sales now that they've gone BK. So many books, so little time.

I usually end up reading about 3 books at a time, switching between them depending on what I'm in the mood for LOL ...Right now I'm re-reading Fiery Cross by Diana Gabaldon...I just downloaded it onto my Kindle (even though it's already on my bookshelf!) and was in the mood for a very engrossing story. If you are interested in the historical fiction/ romance/ adventure novels pick up Outlander, it's amazing! I'm also reading Sex in the City and I Talk Pretty One Day.

I am currently reading the Idiot's Guide to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  It is very good and gives down to earth explanations that help me understand Church teachings.

I used to LOVE to read, but have lost interest in most everything (depression). I can barely keep up with the required reading for my job, much less any leisure reading.

i just started a book called drinking coffee elsewhere by z.z. packer

i'm liking the story so far, but not so much how its written.
its somewhat hard to follow. almost too much detail that leads
your mind from the actual events taking place...

we'll see how it turns out! i love getting lost in a book.

I LOVE James Patterson books .... I have read (actually I listen to audio books) all of that series and many more.  He is my favorite author.  I download books on my mp3 player from the local library and I am running out of his books.
The Alex cross series is very good too!!

I have been reading some books by William Bernhardt.  He writes mysteries.

I read all three books of the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  I hated to finish the last one.  I hear there is a fourth one that is half finished (before he died).

Thank you for posting the link for this book I to continually wonder, wonder, about all the instances that are covered in the book It certainly makes you question or should make you question what is said as truth but there are not enough of us "people" that question????

Speaking of reading, does anyone here have an E-reader? I bought one for myself for Christmas, Thanks to my Kids!  I am basically housebound and can't go anywhere till later in afternoon and by then I don't feel like going out.
The Nook lets me buy books without leaving my house, just have to be near my wifi laptop and voila, my new book is in my reader, this is one of the best features for me! I love having the actual book but if can't get to the library this is the next best thing to get my books.
Oh, one more thing I logged onto Ebates before I purchased it and got a nice discount, :notworthy:
