Title: Save year coins for kids 18th birthday
Post by: sommap on March 04, 2011, 10:28:33 am
I have 3 grandkids.  I have a jar for each of them.  I check the dates on all my coins before I dump them into a general jar.  If a coin (any denomination) has one of their birth years on it, it goes into their jar.  If you start off when either your kids or grandkids are small, you can build up a nice jar of change for them.

Unless the coins are made out of silver or gold----DUMB IDEA----In my opinion----Because the coins and paper money WILL NOT be worth anything when this economy TOTALLY COLLAPSES, Which is already happening right before our eyes.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! GET SOME SILVER COINS WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!

I agree with Freepcmoney. I used to give the kids cash, say $30 or $50, for their birthdays so that they can buy whatever they want. Now, I give them silver coins and teach them the value of money.

It seems like a good idea but I think that it would add up faster if you just gave them each 50.00 or so several times per year.

It is one way to save and not spend.  It would be my luck that my year you didnt get a lot of money from, and siblings jars would be full.  Silver and gold is the way to go.
