What is meant by this saying?
-
Well if someone called me something like maybe a snob, then I would respond by saying, "It takes one to know one." It just means that if this person calls me a snob, then he/she is a snob, too. Otherwise, how would he/she know if I am really a snob unless they know what it's like being a snob.

Pretty much what jcribb said. I've also found that this isn't always the case though. but for the most part it is. Its just recognizing a part of them self in someone else.
I can recognize certain things in a person pretty quickly. I had a pretty horrible step mom and I can recognize her malicious traits in someone else right off the bat because of having to live with her for so long and not because I'm anything like her... shudders.... I couldn't imagine living life hating everything like she did/or does.. I truly hope she changed her ways... sorry, off topic...

Does it really take one to know one? If it "looks" like a duck, "waddles" like a duck, and "quacks" like a duck...does one really need to be a duck to KNOW it's a duck? ;D
;D lol
so true
