Title: My Computer has a Virus
Post by: BK_Adores_Chase on March 17, 2011, 12:09:38 pm
Seriously - I hate the people who give other people viruses on their computer.  Do you really have nothing better to do with your time?  Like I can afford a new computer!  THANKS! :BangHead:

Download  Microsoft Security Essentials (it is free!)  BEFORE you install it, remove all other security programs you have installed.

Then do a full scan, at least three times...Just to make sure everything is taken care of.  These things like to hide, believe me!

My friend is a computer tech, and this is what he uses on all of his computers.  Of course he promotes the other programs that cost

because he makes a living do this, and selling these are an added bonus!

I do a lot of marketing online, making websites, making blogs, doing graphics, building teams, ect.  and I HAVE to keep my computer running top notch!
Every day be sure to run a scan, clean your cookies, browsing history, offline content, ect.  You'll see a big difference :)

Hope this helps!

I got a computer virus from another PTC website about 3-months ago. It cost me about $180.00 to get rid of it. Hope you get rid of yours.

Always make sure you have Ad-Aware installed and running on your PC at all times as well.

Totally free, too.

another good one is the free web scan from microsoft. It does require that you use internet explorer, but it's VERY efficient at getting viruses removed off your computer without having to install a program (some viruses disable your ability to install other programs). http://safety.live.com
Very simple to use, very effective, free, and you don't need to install anything.

I do pretty well with what I use, which is a combination of "Hijack This", "spybot", "ad aware" and a few other things, BUT I can never seem to get rid of what ever it is that is messing with my searches. A huge % of time when I use a search engine, to do a search, like if I search google, well then when the google page comes up, if I click on something there, a lot of times it takes me to another page. This new page usually is like a different search engine results, it lists things related to what I searched for to begin with. It is beyond annoying, and I never click on anything there, I just do my original search again in like google, then click on a link or result from there again.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials and CCleaner to keep my computer running smoothly. You can always use the free edition of AVG too.
