Ever have annoying habit you wish you can just lose or break out of? I just noticed today that when I'm upset or nervous/over whelmed , I have this bad habit of picking on any kind of scab on my body. Target today was my scalp. I picked on old scabs on my head. I think when my mom was harassing me all over not calling her back right away after she left a message was trigger that set me off. Is this a normal thing? I hope I'm not the only one in this universe to have this problem. I wonder if anybody in the fc family have weird or annoying habits & how they coupe with it. Any experience helps. :female:

It's an anxiety trigger. It's like some people bite their nails, twist their hair, etc. I've seen a lot of people chain smoke when they are upset or anxious, or drink alcohol. They are all outlets of the stress their feeling.
What you need is an alternative stress reliever. They have those stress *bleep* that you can squeeze over and over, take a good long walk or jog. Crossword puzzles, Suduko, etc. Do anything that will take your mind off of what is bothering you at the moment. It's not easy to cut across the emotional stress of the moment, but you can do it.
I had a habit of picking at my cuticles when thinking about stressful situations. I did it without actually noticing I was doing it. Try not to dwell on the situation that has you stressed (easier said than done). Force yourself to turn that negative energy into positive. I always find that baking, crafts, knitting/crocheting, or sewing are great stress relievers. Play some of your favorite music a bit louder than usual. This gives your mind to focus on something else. The point is to get your hands busy with an alternative option.

i pick peeling sunburns and dry skin, too. it only
sounds like problem when i mention them, like now!

Make sure you do not do any facial acne scabs because they will get worse if you do! My weird habit is eating what I say to myself to avoid because it could make me fat!

I bite my nails sometimes, but my real habit is cracking my knuckles. I've done it since I was a kid. I've even caught myself doing it in the middle of the night in my sleep.
