Wow, that is amazing to make it to day 2. Once you stop remember to never go back. You can never have just one smoke. i am going to try the electronic cigerette hopefully soon. I have already had lung surgery.

Remember what Yoda said in the Star Wars movies, "There is no try, only do". I did it in 1964 and as a result, I have outlived both my younger siblings.

Congratulation! It's not easy but it's also not as hard as you might think. The first few days are the worst and then the nicotine is out of your system and all you have to worry about is your brain telling you to smoke :BangHead: Each time you feel like you want a cigarette, take a deep breath & a glass of water and wait 5 minutes. You can always make it 5 minutes and usually by then the craving is gone. Good Luck & I hope you make it

Good Luck. If you really want to quit, you can do it. My problem is that I don't want to!

I sat through a huge class on hypnosis for quitting smoking, and it worked for me. One of the things they taught us was to say "I don't feel the need for a cigarette when ........".

I heard this really works, but only because you are so busy peeing that you can't light up. ;D

Maybe you should try that electric cigarette.

logically quitting should be easy because there no gain only loss, but our urges out do our logic, so try to find a solution that fits you when you get the urge, (exercise, eat sun flower seeds, get busy, have friends help you.)

Day 2 that is so good congrats to you so far. I quit years ago and it became a bit easier after a week. drink plenty of water and chew lots of gum or suck on lolly pops thats how I did it. keep repeating to your self i'm gonna do this over and over. My husband was told to quit smoking but he didnt and he had a massive heartattack and died at the young age of 48. Drs told him over and over that if he didnt quit he wouldnt make it to 55 heck he didnt even make it to 50 :(...YOU CAN DO THIS!!..I want to read tomorrow day 3 ok :)

I was smoking for 4yrs when I was in my mid teens. I was able to quit cold turkey once or twice and then, I start up again for some reason. Then, I used those Nicoderm patches. They offer 3 steps and I tried the 1st step and it didn't work very well for me. So, I skipped to the 3rd step and I was able to quit smoking. I haven't smoke another cigarette for 6 or 8yrs now :)

Thank you, Im never gonna go back to smoking again. Just looking at the price for one pack of cigarettes would make you wanna quit. I lost half of my income and I know I can't continue to smoke if I was still smoking to this day. Its just as bad as alcohol in my opinion. Whoever made cigarettes and alcohol should be put out of business.

Boise I sooooo agree with you there. if they didnt excist I would still have my husband today :(...sorry for my spelling..the older I get the worse ITS getting...spell check please!!

Some people are able to quit cold turkey, but I don't think anyone should be expected to. I've done it, but I wouldn't recommend it due to withdrawal symptoms. I hear a lot of great things about those patches... Good luck.

i agree with you and sympathize with you but unfortunately most people don't think when it comes to urges so they need away to destroy the urge if they knew what you are going through they definitely wont smoke, but think back on yourself, you knew its bad but didn't really consider the consequences

Getting through that first month is the big key. Some days will be harder than others. I will never forget been about three weeks in and then I cracked and decided to smoke one of my roommates. Luckily, he was out and I couldn't justify driving to gas station to get a pack of my own. Looking back, that was the milestone moment for me. I got through the craving and still haven't smoke a cigarette for over 4 years since I decided to quit.
