Title: Invasion of Privacy
Post by: smithjcsdfw on April 12, 2011, 09:00:45 am
Do you think Corporations should use your private social account (facebook, twitter) to fish for information about you?  Me personaly I believe that this is an invasion of privacy.

It is an invasion of privacy, but I think that people who use Facebook regularly have to expect that when they put their information on the world wide web, they are intrinsically giving up some of their privacy. From some posts that I've read on Facebook some people don't care about their privacy anyway.

I hate people invading my privacy. If I want people to know my business, I would tell them.

Yea. You have to expect it somewhat. It's kinda like celebrities.  If you are famous, you are going to have to accept living in the spotlight. If you don't like it you are in the wrong business.  I don't mean all of the paparazzi people that invade peoples personal space- some of that is crazy- but when you put information or yourself out there, people will read it, or want to take pictures of you, etc... Make sense?

I think that corporations use everything at their disposal to know everything that they can about you especially if they are looking to get rid of you or enslave you in a particular position.  I recently had a conference with a vice president of our company...two levels above me about several e-mails that he had reviewed in my computer...a few of which were derogatory about him.
