does anyone have a funny or creative nickname? mind sharing?
I never had much of nicknames growing up -- people just shortened my name. Some did call me Curly Sue and later a boyfriend in High school called me Special Que -- that was only between he and I though.
My 3 year old has named his baby sibling (not yet born) both "noodle" and "duck" -- wonder what else he will come up with and wonder if any of his chosen names will stick as a nickname.

I am 44 years old now and all my family still calls me Sissy. Except for my dad. For some reason I cannot fathom, he has always called me Squeater, and still does. I have no clue where he came up with the name. It doesn't even come anywhere close to my real name. Go figure, dads are funny that way.

Well in high school I developed later than most and all of the guys called me mosquito bites for my small chest. Yeah that definitely changed and they feel really stupid now. :P I was called by my last name or just shortened versions of my name a lot because of sports. I don't know if that really counts as a nickname though. Otherwise, my sister and I had a few sets of names for each other as we grew up. I can't even remember them all now, but one pair was Bessy and Heffy (no idea where that came from or who was who).

I was called Binnie because my cousing who was just a day younger than me couldn't pronouce the L in my name. My little sister was called poo and my older sister was called Hoss.
My husband's grandfather (they had 11 kids) had to do the census in the 1940 and had to track down Grandma at a neighbor's house because he didn't know the kids real names,,,,,just skeeter, sissy, bobo, and so on. Actually alot of them still use their nick names cause their real names were pretty bad. Zella, Roscoe, Gilbert and so on.

Great topic! My husband attended a few high school years in Hawaii, played soccer there and often wore his favorite t-shirt with the word Maui on it. yep, you guessed it, his nick name is Maui. His real name is Steve and when we are around people we don't know well and I call him Maui.....I get strangest looks. My oldest daughter is baby, youngest is girlgirl and my son is bugg. I guess I'm the only one that doesn't have one. :)

I have a friend who when she was about two every time a plane flew by she would run thru the yard squeaking as the plane flew over head. So they called her Squeaky. The name stuck since she apparently didn't like her given name. In fact I still don't even know her given name.

Its funny how nicknames stick with you through life. I actually got my nickname "Neyonce" from a friend. She said that because I always wear high-heels, make-up and a long pony tail that my name should be Neyonce (after Beyonce) instead of NeNe. I thought it was kind of cute so I stuck with it.

how is it that the little things like this bring smiles to our faces! :) I love this above message. I hope I can do the same for my kids when they are older and need a mommy moment.
