Title: Giving Baby's Vitamins
Post by: BK_Adores_Chase on May 06, 2011, 06:54:18 am
I just had a newborn and I was wondering how soon I can give her vitamins.  I used to give my son poly vi sol but I can't remember when I started it.  Once again, I'm sure it says on the bottle, but just wondering.

is the baby formula fed or breastfed?
is there iron deficiency present?  (dr should test for this)

there really is very little benefit of the vitamins for most infants as the formula has everything - some babies are anemic and need some iron but ONLY do this if the dr. says

vitamins are likely more critical when they start eating.

Congrats by the way -- how old?  Boy or girl?

You better ask the baby doctor. Iron is really dangerous for the liver.

I'm nursing her...I want to exclusively for 6 months but am NOT looking forward to pumping - pain in the butt.  She is only a couple of days old - girl, Emma Lynn.
