WHY DONT U CLEAN UR DAMN HOUSE?>> OMG PLEASE CLEAN UR HOUSE!!!!! :bs:

You said "dude" so I assume you are talking about a man? Most men don't know how to clean, nor will they when it's just them and a kid. However, a woman with children who works will have a hard time keeping things uncluttered. Picking up the clutter isn't hard for tidying up during the week, but the house should be cleaned really good about once a week. If you keep it up then it's not that hard to clean weekly.
When I worked and my son lived at home, I cleaned the house extra good on my days off. Sometimes I would clean the house on Friday evenings so I could enjoy the weekend without cleaning. I would vacuum and dust occasionally during the week. I liked to do the bathrooms a little bit each time before going to work during the week as they were the hardest rooms. Then just the rest of the house was deep cleaned on the weekend (beds changed, floors mopped, etc.)
There's no reason to have a dirty/filthy home unless someone is disabled and can't get to it. However, some people are just lazy.

no it was for a couple, and u dont use slang?

Not often.....

the mom doesnt work and stays home with her youngest while the older one is in school. each time i have been over, it was dirty. oh and the older one said her dad called me stupid coz i put stuff on his "special table" that i knew nothing about. so, the way i see it is, if i helped u..u should appreciate it. it doesnt matter if i put SH** on ur special table or not. dont call me stupid just because u were the stupid one who didnt tell the babysitter it was "special" and dont want anything that isnt just yours on it, and it looked like an ordinary side table to me, which i only moved to vacuum under and around, and put the phone books on it instead of under it(as it was). i put everything back the way i found it after cleaning it except the phone books. seemed like their vacuum didnt work too good either. so, i want to confront these parents..but i really dont know how to go about it. for now i guess i look for a different job. :BangHead: :angry7:

If they don't appreciate what "extra" you did for them. It's time to find another job. You don't have to take abuse (verbal or otherwise) in that situation. Time to find something else. I know there are many elderly people who would love for you to run errands, and do some light cleaning for them.
If you are really interested. Check at your local Senior Center and put your name on a list of caregivers. Sometimes the State will pay you a good wage for doing these jobs, as the seniors have coverage for it through their Medicare Benefits.
-
well, I wouldn't get to upset about it. Maybe there are reasons for it that you don't know about like the special table. Also, there is a specific name for people with a condition such as this. (Hording is one) Don't get mad, help out if you can but don't over step your bounds. If it is to bothersome for you don't go over there anymore. Sometimes people feel over whelmed and end up not doing anything about the situation except let it get worse.

well what is your version of dirty? different people have different standards. some think as long as trash isn't piled up, foods put away and there's not a weeks worth of dished in the sink it's clean. while others panic if there's so much as a glass in the sink and a speck of dust on the tabletop.
-
You probably can't/won't change them, so I would advise getting a different job.

my version of dirty is..dirty dishes everywhere in the kitchen, stove being flithy like they havent cleaned after making food on the stove for days, laundry everywhere, crumbs all over the floor, papers and wrappers all over the couch, table being sticky, garbage smells like something died in there, papers and toilet paper in the back of the couch, and spots all over the carpet. thats my version on dirty.. so it is dirty and i cant stand it. i dont take my shoes off over there anymore. and i'm not going to call them about babysitting again.

I feel ya...I have a cousin that keeps a filthy house. I don't understand that type of mentality.
-
I hate a dirty house, I have to clean my everyday I feel drity if I don't. I'm looking I'm a stay at home mom.

I like a clean house but my house is constantly dirty. I swear, evertime I get a change to start cleaning someone in my house wants me to cook them food or needs my help with something. It's super tough to keep your house clean, even if you only have 1 kid. I don't like having a dirty house, but unless I want to skip sleep and clean through the night for the rest of my life it's just not going to happen. I could be cleaning right now, though, and instead I'm doing my fusioncash - but hey, I'm just trying to make a couple of bucks really quick! Need money...

hey i hear ya. my place usually stays clean, except the occasional loads of dishes..that i can just put in the dish washer. i have laundry to do but the laundry is in the laundry room and out of sight so i dont feel embarrassed if people come over coz they wont see it. i have to vacuum every now and then but thats about it. i pick up my mess when im done doing something like eating. only when i have a big project to do, my stuff stays out until im completely done. my place is small and i dont have alot of room to put thing so, maybe some people might think its cluttered. yes, i would agree, but it isnt dirty. i dont have rotten food on dirty plates or dirty cups lying everywhere or pop cans where their not supposed to be. i take the tabs off of them and send them with some people for the ronald mcdonald house of charity. not sure what they do with them but they want them. and i bag up what is left of my pop cans and take them to the nearest metal recycling center and get money for them.
-
at BK_Adores_Chase : i would suggest bagging up ur pop/soda cans and taking them to the nearest metal recycling center and get some money from them. also, u should recycle nething that can be recycled such as cardboard, plastic, egg cartons, paper, glass. put them in a bin and set them out with ur garbage on ur garbage day because 90% of ur garbage can be recycled and not put in ur trash can with ur other trash. this way u will save on garbage bags and that will save u money.

As a Realtor I was always surprised, when showing houses, how sloppy people were. Poop in toilets, dishes stacked in the sink, dirty ashtrays, cluttered counters, uncleaned spills on the floor, newspapers lying all over the place, unmade beds...seriously? Did these people want to sell or not?!? These are things that would have taken only five minutes to clean up...and I always gave more than three hours notice when scheduling a showing.
-
Eww poop in the toilets? If I was trying to sell my house I would make time to clean.
-
Sounds like they need a Kirby vacuum that will get their home clean for them!
Or you can tell them to clean up.

I can't dump on the guy with the dirty house b/c my house is not exactly the cleanest either. He sounds like a person that behaves in a hording or pack rat manner. The guy probably lives in his own time/space line. Dishes could be piled up for months & 1 day his world is alined to washing those dirty dishes that had been sitting in the sink for months. This hording disorder, I think is genetic as well as learned. In the past families would hoard things that they need on a later date due to stressful situations, like WW1, WW2, the great depression....etc. My Aunt has packs of news papers for wayyyyyyy back sitting in piles in every room even the bathroom. It was so bad that when a snake got in, it was really hard for the snake people to find it. I'm the same way. In a corner there might be pile of books & papers that will sit there for months-yr. Until 1 day it just bothers me & thus, I clean it up. Same for the dishes in the sink, the pile of clothes bathroom,,,,,etc. As long as there is a pathway to walk through my house; I'm happy about it. I am slowly working on getting stuff organize. By the time I do, I'll probably keel over & die. My last thoughts would be....YES, I FINALLY GOT MY HOUSE TO BE A NORMAL HOUSE! Now, I can die happy. LoL.... Kidding aside, the guy probably can't help it. It's a mental disorder & millions of people are inflicted with it in different degrees or stages. When I'm feeling depressed b/c of my problem, I watch Hoarders & when I see 1 person living in huge house with everything piled up to the ceiling b/c of years of hoarding. I look at my pathways through out my house & feel so much better! Maybe you should talk to the guy about this issue & maybe see if he can pay you more money to clean up when you baby sit. If it really, really, bothers u then it's maybe best to drop this client from your services. Good Luck!

Have you ever watched that show about hoarders? Now that's really disgusting. They are people who collect things through the years and don't give anything up because they have an emotional value attached to everything. There are some who also live in their own trash. Which I find disgusting but I don't understand why they do it. If you ever talk to the couple, ask them why the house is like that. Tell them how you feel. You're the babysitter and they're asking you a favor. The least they could do is keep the house clean while you're there. Plus, the house needs to be clean especially a home with children.

Some people are just lazy and a dirty, filthy house doesn't bother them. I have a sister who has a beautiful house and she will not keep her house clean if you paid her. She will leave pots and pans sitting in grease or oil for weeks at a time, the dishes are never washed, the Island is overloaded with filth. Its really disguisting. Some years ago Before my Mom passed, I stayed with them for 2 days and my skinned itched the who time I was there. They have 3 bathrooms and all were filthy. She used her spa tub to hold both clean and dirty clothes. I had to get out of that house when my brother-in-law said he had cooked, but yet, the sink was still filled with dishes and all the filth still stayed in place. I thought I would upchuck when he made that offer. I was out of there fast.
Whereas I am totally opposite because that is how I was raised. My house has to be clean at all times, even when I was working, had a small child to take care of on a daily basis. Where my sister got her filthiness from is truly amazing to all of us-her sisters and brothers.

My house is "messy" at times, but it is not "dirty." There is a big difference. Dirty implies unclean, as in bugs and old food and trash and such. Messy is more of toys laying around or clothes not put in the laundry.

I hate cleaning but when I see something dirty and need to be cleaned. I'll get off my butt and clean it up. The thought of the mess staying there irritates me.
