Title: Botox on Children
Post by: noirlupe on May 12, 2011, 05:57:39 am
I saw on GMA this morning that a mother is giving her 8 year girl botox injections because she sees lines when she smiles and the child needs to look her best for her beauty pageants.  Does this scare anyone else?  Do you think this is a case of child abuse even if the child is asking for the shots?

Wow, that is really sick  :P I can see the lawsuit coming... Girl turns 25 and her face looks like a plastic mask from all of the injections, so she sues mom for giving them to her when she was a child. I mean, really.... Next we'll have pageant moms giving their daughters breast implants  :o At that age, the girl doesn't know what she truly wants, nor does she understand all of the ramifications that those botox injections will have on her later in life. And the lines on the girl's face are not wrinkles from aged skin, rather they are a result from facial expressions; if you botox those lines away, your face looks expressionless. That I don't think is very beautiful (if I were a judge, I'd mark off for looking too phony). The mom should definitely not be giving those to her daughter; I also can't believe that any doctor would stoop that low either. Just because something can be done doesn't mean that it should be done.

that is so sad. I would dread having this girl as a teenager. There is so much more to life than image.

OMG that is not right, i think there should be an age limit for botox. Plus, wouldnt the botox like mess witht he kids growing ability?  Either way, that is just plain wrong.

That should be a major form of child abuse.

That is really disturbing. Botox in general is disturbing since it requires injecting yourself with Clostridium botulinum a neurotoxic bacteria that when digested (the reason you don't eat food from bulging cans) can lead to muscle weakness throughout your body, difficulty controling facial muscles, dry mouth and throat, difficulty breathing, respiratory arrest, CO2 buildup and possible death or coma if not treated. In botox you inject it into a local area which only causes muscle weakness and interferes with neuron firing in that area. Only humans would take this seemingly dangerous bacteria and use it for beautification.

That is just plain nuts How selfish
and irresponsible of the mom... what is the mother thinking apparently she is NOT thinking at all
What will the ramifications of these injections be on a growing child's body. This kind of "beautification" and I mean that sarcastically should only be used on adults and then very rarely I do not get it love what you have and take care of your body and you will not have to go through all that that is right up there with breast implants all this for vanity????? Crazy Crazy :-

that's so sad for the kid to go through. It makes you wonder if the mom should have been a parent at all...
