Title: Favorite Holiday

Post by: jorhea on June 10, 2011, 06:45:31 pm: I think Thanksgiving and Christmas. For Thanksgiving I cook a HUGE meal, by myself, for about 40 family members and friends. Christmas is the holiday that all my kids and grandkids are together. We have a nice meal, open gifts and sing Christmas Carols.

Post by: jamiebonds03 on June 11, 2011, 04:38:14 am: I would have to say Thanksgiving because I get to see many of my family members that I don't normally see during the year I get stuffed from all of the food thats cooked on that day. I love Christmas also but financially I'd have to say I love Thanksgiving is my favorite. I know Christmas isn't about gifts and stuff but to be honest I like giving and receiving gifts and it can be an expensive time of the year for some.I always look forward too and and I also look foreward to getting it over with.

Not that we don't do that daily, but it's a special time for everyone to come together for such. To be with church and family during that time is a celebration of thanks and love.

There's something special about bidding the Summer goodbye, and "gathering in" for the coming Winter with Thanksgiving.

Mine is all the summer holidays!!! Christmas too!! :D

Post by: amyrouse on June 11, 2011, 10:36:29 pm: Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Something about the end and the beginning, reflecting over the past year, and making amends when there are apologies to be made. Reminds me that I constantly should strive to be a better person.

My favorite growing up was always Thanksgiving, though. I always spent the day cooking with my mom, and it still holds a special place in my heart. It was our holiday, it felt like. My mom and I have always had a special bond, and that day it always feels so impenetrable.
