Title: Possible idea for stay at home mom? What do you think?
Post by: aklotz on June 20, 2011, 01:01:50 pm
Ok so this is my first post ever to FusionCash. I just joined. I've heard of it years ago but never really had the time to check it out.  :notworthy:
Let me tell you a little about myself first. I'm 22 years old, first time mom of a 14 month old girl named Zoey , greatest thing that ever happened to me, she's definitely changed my life. I have a boyfriend of about 2 years. Having a family is wonderful but stressful at times when it comes to finances, especially. About 2 months ago, I left my job (at Arby's, part-time), because it seemed like I was working so many hours, usually 4 to close (between 11 and midnight), and I would get paid biweekly and once I got my check, it was gone to bills already. And I was still in debt. Also, I had contributed 2 years of loyal work there, and 4 managers told me they would promote me and never did, and kept bringing new people in and training them, it seemed like a waste of time because I wanted to move up! I didn't want to just be a cashier anymore, I wanted more responsibility. So it was definitely frustrating.  :BangHead:And on top of that, I felt like I wasn't being with my family enough, because my boyfriend worked days and I worked nights, and I wanted to be with my daughter more.
So I've always wanted an at home job, and I have a Google Android phone and lately, ive been signing up for paid email accounts, hoping that with several of those, adding up over time, my question to you is, Is it worth my time? Is it really that easy to just read emails and get paid? Yes, it takes time, on some sites, the minimum payout is usually around $20, and usually get paid around $0.02 per read email. And these sites also usually offer paid surveys, offers, and tasks. And I figure, I'm a stay at home mom anyway, and my phone has everything I need to do this, why not? It only takes a couple hours a day or more if I want, to do this on sites. I can't even get a job at Walmart nowadays because I have one bad thing on my record.
I want a job that I can do at home, isn't that what everyone wants though? Trust me, I've done research, but I can't find anything that has no startup fees, because I have no money to start!
:dontknow: I'm trying to do what I can to help support my family, but am I wasting my time? You tell me :)

GPT sites are good and some people can make quite a bit of money on them. :)

My suggestion would be though to sell Mary Kay, Avon, Tupperware etc (there are a bunch of different companies). There are start up costs associated with them BUT if you find someone to "sponsor" you, you can throw a party and earn the start-up kit and then it is up to you! With good customer service, organizational skills and dedication to work you will be able to make a great career for yourself while working from home!

I'm currently going to school to be a work from home medical transcriptionist. :) I have the customer service, organizational skills, and the dedication to work but I'm just not social enough. LOL Medical transcription will work great for me because I have a limited amount of time that I have to be social but I can still work hard and have a great career.

Good Luck!

This website lists lots of companies that hire from home www.ratracerebellion.com.  I check it often.  You won't be able to make a living from reading emails it's just a way to make some extra money.

@aklotz, first of all congratulations on the bundle of joy you've received & successfully, joining the FC family. The way you describe you're living situation reminds me of how my parents raised us. Mom & Dad was like 2 ships passing in the night. In the morning Dad's getting us ready for the day & mom's still asleep. Later in the evening, Dad's coming home to start dinner & mom's getting ready to leave for the Grave yard shift. I guess they did find time for each other b/c they had 6 kids! I'm the 3rd middle child, you know the invisible one. LoL  Anyway, I agree with you worrying about not spending enough time w/your child. Also don't forget your boyfriend because in relationships things get strained too much it might break down. You need to have sometime with him to relate, continue to bond with him & strengthen your emotional growth that even when the worst things could happen you & your boyfriend has the love, emotional confidence to face all adversities. I too have joined many other sites to make some extra monies. If you want some Ideas on legit money earning sites, or some budgeting (my older sis a senior vic pres. in the banking world) solutions/ideas email me at www.tantricia44@yahoo.com. Good Luck!

Many good companies out there.  I have mystery shopped, fun but not much call for it around here.  I am signed with many ptc and rewards sites, some sites that you can make money just post and nothing else.  I also have a homebased business that I have just started.  Check around, I would tell you some names but I am not sure that is okay to do here.  A nother idea is to become a live opp.  Good luck, you will enjoy staying at home and making money.

I think these sites are great for making some extra money, but it's definitely not enough to make a living. If you don't have a job, it's better than nothing and you have plenty of time to do it. That's what I'm doing. I have a 2 month old, so I'm not quite ready to go back to work. My boyfriend is working full time, but I'm just doing this to make a little extra spending money and I also get bored sitting home all the time. I am definitely going to keep doing this as much as I can until I go back to work in a couple months. And I will do all that I have time to do after that too. Might as well if you have the extra time.

Generally, unless you have a large network of referrals, you won't make much money from any of the PTC, read emails, offers, etc...sites.  I'd give you my email address (I use yahoo email like tantricia) so I could help you investigate the sites, but it's against forum rules.  Just be careful with any of those sites!

And this is off topic, but Tantricia44, do you have a youtube channel under that name?  I looked up my FC username on facebook, and the Bing results on the bottom led to links with my real name (from Twitter)...which is part neat, part creepy....so then I tested it with your username and got a channel on youtube.

GPT sites are good but take a lot of time and patience.

It's not a waste of time, as you can get some extra money, but don't expect to make as much as you did from your job. I got into GPTs when I was going to college and didn't have a job, as it helped pay for gas and other expenses, but I still had to borrow money when I had vehicle repairs and stuff. It adds up after a while but unless you have a steady stream of active referrals, you won't make enough to live off of.

Realistically this site will not replace your previous job.  I would suggest only using it to supplement your income, i.e. smaller purchases.

Well my sister brought up a good point, and she told me that these sites, say the minimum of the cashout  is $25. She said that these sites will get you up to cashout, but then that's pretty much it, cuz there's not much more to the site after that. And that's about all the money you'll make. Which makes sense, but not what u wanted to hear. Thanks for all your feedback guys

I think it is good money for groceries or smaller bills but it will take time to add up and it doesn't replace a steady income. But hey every little bit helps! I think the key to make a significant income is referrals. Best of luck to you!!

These sites are meant to supplement, which is what you can only expect them to do.
Free money though is not so free ... you are getting paid for time and effort ...
It is good though to get paid for what you normally do on line ... like searches games shopping ect.
It amounts to cash in the pocket and isn't that the bottom line that it helps your bottom line ...

its a good start. I too am a stay at home mom and belong to a few different sites. I also help out by following some freebie sites. I have been able to get a lot of free product coupons for things such as french fries to shampoo. my boyfriend likes it when we go to the store to pick up free things!!! i also got into couponing a few months ago and it has helped me to stretch every dollar that we bring in.

I am also in a similar situation as you lol. I have a couple of sites i go to but i havent cashed out on them yet. I usually get a chance to get online either when my daughter is taking a nap or i cant sleep at night lol. With that being said it does take some time to be able to cash out from some sites. And i also like the other poster goto some free item websites. You get coupons for free items and free offers from shampoo to diapers to cereal. Check around for these sites aswell because they will help make your money go farther.

It is free money that you can get by staying on the computer. I belong to a few and can make a little extra money.

I am a stay at home mom as well. My daughter is almost 2. I am having the same problem with the start up fees for all work from home jobs. I dont have any money to start with either.I have signed up for a whole bunch of sites that pay you to take surveys but I never qualify for any so I cant make money! I hope fusion cash works out for us both! Good Luck

 :dontknow:

Though I don't have a lot of experience in the paid to read emails - I honestly think your idea is worth while. Just like some of the other people have commented in this post, it'll probably take time to start making any real money but there are no downsides or risks involved. I'm also trying the same thing to see how it goes, along with offers and surveys.  Good luck and let's hope it works! Lol!

I'm going to be straight with you -- you were MUCH better off financially working at Arby's than you probably will ever be working from home.  This is because Arby's is guaranteed hours and guaranteed money...whereas online, you are at the whim of companies that could go scam overnight; the money is not set nor guaranteed (unless you own your own business or work for a LEGIT telecommute company)...and on average, you will make way less than minimum wage per hour for a lot more work.

So no, reading emails at 2 cents per pop isn't going to cut it, ever.  Go back to Arby's!!
