Title: Dog lovers
Post by: vmcutshall on June 29, 2011, 06:36:08 pm
What type of dog food do you feed your dog?

I have a white lab that ate Atta boy dog food  since she was a puppy. Then my daughter bought her some Wal Mart  dog food that has different flavors in it and now we can't get her to eat her Atta boy dog food.

My dog will only eat pedigree. I've tried other brands but no, only pedigree.

We feed our dogs primarily dry food, with a couple cans of wet a month for a treat and/or to take heartworm pills.  We're currently feeding them Blue Wilderness, alternating between the chicken recipe and duck recipe each bag.  After about 10-11 bags, we change brands.  If dogs can tolerate food changes, it can be beneficial to change up the foods periodically, as no one brand is a perfect food.  They all have some deficiency in them, or excess of something, as well as having different sources of protein.  The other brands we'll probably use in the rotation with Blue Wilderness are Merrick Before Grain and Wellness Core.

Love dogs, but I like cats more.  They smell better and are independent without slobbering in your face and begging for food at the table. :dog:

I feed my pit/boxer whatever happens to be on sale. Come n get it, Alpo, Gravy Train, Kibbles and Bits. His coat is gorgeous, weight under control, good muscle tone. The vet says he is in great condition. So I don't know about all those expensive "premium" brands. I know what does right by him and our budget. It's a win/win.

I feed my dogs Pro Plan. It's a little more expensive but veternary approved. I have switched a few times but I always go back and my dogs like it.
