Virginia uses the lethal injection but everyone that gets sentences to the death penalty automatically gets an appeal.  That way no one can say VA's death penlatly is unjust like that did in Maryland which is why there it was revoked.

I live in Texas and we are a firm believer in the Death Penalty.  There are just some crimes that God might want to forgive them but the folks in Texas won't.

I believe in the death penalty for certain things. For instance, when one has raped another or has molested a child, they should get the death penalty.  The reason I say that is because this is a crime that has lifelong devastating effects for the victim.  The rapist has taken a part of that person's life, and he has killed a major part of that person, which will never be revived.  So yes, there are things for which the death penalty should be administered.

Amen!  Couldn't agree with you more.  There is no rehabilitation for these scumbags that has ever worked.  The U.S. has more people in jail/prison than any other country in the world.  In other areas of the world there is no jail/prison for rape, murder, drugs, or even theft.  They handle it by stoning, cutting off of hands, hanging, et cetera.  Not all of these crimes deserve death, but rape and molestation definitely do.  Make an example and we will see how quickly these animals will change their actions.

The death penalty is not exercised enough today. Here's a story I heard:

There was once a Mexican leader of a town in Old Mexico. He was also the law enforcement and/or judge. He built a one man cell. If someone committed a crime such as rape, murder, even theft, they went into the cell. If someone else committed a crime, he would put to death the person in the cell to make way for the present offender to occupy it. On and on it went, until there was no crime whatsoever in the town at all.

There's a moral here...........

I am so on the fence with this issue, sorda like abortion......eye for an eye and who are we to judge, right? yet, morally, how do either stand. Is it dependent on the individual or should it go by the social standards? really, do we get to pick and choose what verses suit our lives or way of thought? :BangHead: :angel12: :dontknow:

We have no death penalty in Hawaii. It's truly paradise to know there are criminals that should pay for their crimes, but the state says otherwise. :bs:

I am from N.C. and we do have the death penalty.  I am completely for it also.  The problem I have with our system is that after all of the appeals are exhausted you are looking at 30-40 yrs before the person actually gets the lethal injection.  Depending on the convicted persons age, they will probably die from natural causes before they get the injection!

I look at the death penalty a bit different.
I am torn between life in prison (no parole) with where they can create jobs for many people for a long time and death penalty where they pay for their crimes immediately, but only created a few jobs for people for a short time.
Also, I think having the prisoner to live with what they did for the rest of their lives is a worse punishment than death.

I believe there are some people who are so evil they can't be allowed to live.  In most cases, I do believe that life in prison is a worse punishment than death but there are people who I wouldn't even wish on prisoners.

Ohio has the death penalty and I believe in it.  It's probably not used enough and there are way too many appeals that go on for years and years.

I'm for the death penalty hands down, but it would all depend on the charge/ crime that has been commited.
