I've found money at the beach, gas station and amusement park and it's always a moral quandry as to what I should do. At the beach I found a 100 dollar bill and waited a good while to see if someone would come back scouring the beach for lost money. No one was around as it was a night walk on the beach and no one came back so I pocketed the money, but I felt a little bad for whoever lost their money. I found 20 bucks at the gas station once. I picked it up and looked around to see someone barge back into the store and start looking frantically on the floor, I gave them back the cash after I asked them if I could help them find something. :P The guy was amazed I didn't pocket the cash and thanked me profusely. :)

I would keep it - you don't think that the person you might turn it in to would keep it? Now a phone, I would turn that in because you could like call the owner from the phone - or a wallet because you could figure out where they live on their ID

Money well if it was just on the sidewalk or in a place where it would be impossible to identify who it came from i am not gonna lie i would keep it but if it was in a place where it could be returned to the proper owner i would return i just would not feel good about keeping it, its just not right. Plus i would want someone to do for me what goes around comes around right?

i agree. if i found it outside on the ground or in a parking lot or something.. i would probably stick it in my pocket :P
but if i really thought i could find the rightful owner, i would at least try.

take the money to lost and found

I pick up any money I find on the ground and keep it.

take the money to lost and found
Where's a lost and found on the beach or a sidewalk?
-
I always go for the grab but look at the same time :angel12:
-
Grab ;D Why ignore good luck?
Now, if I saw someone actually drop it I'd give it back.

I would keep the money. I would not try hard to find the person who lost the money. I would say that it is my lucky day!

I found a twenty dollar bill on the floor of a mall once and turned it into customer service. They said if nobody claimed it in 90 days, I could come back and claim it for myself, and that's how it played out!
-
Really depends on how much it is. If it is some change, I will pocket it. If it is a bill, then it depends on where I am at.
-
Honestly if i found some money on the ground i would pick it up. If i see someone drop money then i would alert them and hand them their money.

Found money on the ground with nobody around is just that..........found money. If someone is around, I would ask them if they lost some money and denomination. If I found a wallet, purse, bag, briefcase, etc., with money, that would be turned in to the proper authorities in tact. If I found money in an ATM, I would turn it into the bank or customer service where the ATM Kiosk is. If there was nowhere to turn it in, I would wait to see if someone came back to get it.
One time I went to the ATM in the grocery store to get some cash for shopping. After my transaction I began to shop and went to the check out. That's when I realized I had failed to pick up my money from the ATM slot. The checker told me to go to the customer desk to see if anyone had turned it in. They had!! Someone could have easily taken that money and who would have known it? I was on such a tight budget that it would have thrown me into a financial hardship that month.

times are hard if you find money like that consider it a blessing

It all depends on how much I find.
-
...keep it. lol cuz I mean they dropped it but if I did find them id gladly give it back, Ill feel guilty cuz they earned that money.
-
:peace:I have found money and looked for the owner, gave it to him, felt pretty good, and even got a reward, so I guess one good turn deserves another.
-
I will turn the money in to the police so they can find the owner.

I'm pretty sure the police aren't so pious as to search for the owner of cash, unless it's a briefcase of drug money. They look for reasons to take people's cash and/or cars. Not hating on the police, just saying what I've seen.

keep
-
def grab
-
I would take that money and see if anyone was missing it in the near by area..If not Finders keepers!!!!
-
any thing $100. and above I would turn it into the authorities, because if someone soes not claim it in 90 days its is your free and clear and you don't have to worry about feeling guilty.
-
I would keep it i find money all the time like pennies but you know that adds up to a dollar and so far.... but the most i found is 20.00 dollars.
-
I would see if anyone has been looking for it....and if not I would keep it.
-
i'll definately look for the owner first and if i dont find them, depending on the amount, i'll either keep it or turn it in to the police.
-
Depends on the situation. If someone nearby is looking for it I think you have to give it back. Otherwise, consider it your lucky day!
-
Put it on a lost and found section.

Finders keepers and losers weepers? I have never been excited to see a lost bill because it is a sign of temptation. Once I have walked by on the sidewalk and saw a $5 bill. I did not pick it up because I don’t take things that don’t belong to me. I know the wind will probably blow it away or somebody else will eventually grab it. Another time I saw a $100 bill on the floor at the supermarket. I was in line at the checkout and asked the customer in front of me to see if it belonged to him. He was scared and surprised that he almost lost it. Just remember, you can pocket the lost bill and think nobody will know, but God knows everything. We sow what we reap.

You were given another chance and you have done it right. Good for you.
