I'm sure we all have our own way to clean our carpet. I been living in my apartment for 2yrs and I think its time to clean my carpet especially after bringing a puppy into my life. I been thinking of renting a carpet cleaner since I can't afford to buy one at the moment. So, what do any of you recommend in using to clean carpet?

The BEST stuff I have found to date is new and made by Resolve. IT IS AWESOME!!!!!! A little pricey at around $7.99 a container. The pet formula is what I use. It even has a repellent in it and smells great after you vacuum. I love the stuff and it is easy to use. Hope this helps

I agree with you, when my brother was staying here in between jobs, he said he would clean my carpet for me and that is exactly what he went out and bought it worked really well.

I use to clean and vac carpets all the time then we tore it up and I saw all the crud under the carpet STILL after all the cleaning i did and after that i will never have carpet again...

If you blot a little white vinegar where the pooch pees it generally won't stain. Test to make sure it won't b;each it though.

Spray resolve per cleaner on the spots and work in with a sponge. Then rent a cleaner and only use plain water on the entire area because there is usually plenty of detergent residue from the last cleaning!

I agree with some of the others here. Resolve works exceptionally well as a carpet cleaner. Good luck.

Yeah, I got a few spots on my living room carpet that you can easily notice because of my puppy. I tried to clean the mess when it was still fresh but, I guess it didn't do any good. Now, I need to find something to clean those spots before my apartment manager have another yearly apartment inspections.

We bought an upright Bissel rug shampooer when it was on sale at Walmart. It does a pretty good job of cleaning up stains if we get it right away. Before we got that, we would rent one of those Rug Doctor machines. They're heavy as anything to lug back to the apartment, but they do an amazing job - even better than the Bissel.

oxyclean & hot water. works every time.

Well, I went to walmart last night and got myself a bottle of Resolve Carpet Stain Remover, Pet Oxi Advanced and I'm not sure if its working or not. I sprayed where the pee stain is at and waited 5 minutes and then, I use a sponge and a bowl of hot water to scrub the floor. The area still feels wet and it looks like the stain is still there. I will just wait until the area is dry to see if the stain is gone or not.

I haven't used a rug doctor, but I did use my grandparents bissel carpet cleaning vacuum to do their living room and it did a pretty good job. I think the best thing for you to do is just do the whole carpet. That's what I would do. Renting a rug doctor should be okay, and I agree with the weight thing. I've had to carry one :angry7: not fun.

I don't have the option to put hard wood floor in my apartment because my apartment manager would kill me LOL
