Has anyone bought the totally awesome invention Eggies??
I totally love the idea.
They are like the Jello Eggs containers that Kraft came out with years ago.
Problem I just had with this product.
The eggs do not come out of the plastic shells smooth.
They are bubbled up *that is what it looks like.
These boil inside the shells like the reg egg shell.
Problem being... deviled eggs.. NO good. the texture and look is horrible.
Egg salad. Fine, because you chop them up.
Has anyone come up with how to boil this with out that happening.??

Let me add...
These are totally AWESOME if you hate peeling eggs!!!!
That part is totally perfect!!
-
Never heard of it!
-
They are plastic egg containers that you can crack an egg into... and place in a pot of water to boil just like you would boil eggs. Only difference is.. NO PEELING shells!!! You just open up the plastic egg.. and taaa daaa there is the hard boiled egg!!
Infa-mercial... lol...
Finally in Wal-Mart

Sounds like a good gadget to have on hand! I'll have to check it out.

Saw a review of this product on a consumer program on TV. It scored an F. Does not work. Testers tried it 10 or more times and never could get the product to work.

I did not like them. However, I dont like eggs. Only the yellow so that must be why. :confused1:

No gadget needed here. The secret to good, easy to peel hard-boiled eggs is always to use FRESH eggs. Simply put them in a covered pan with enough water to cover them, bring to boil, turn off the burner and let them sit for 20 min. After 20 min. run cold water over them to cool the eggs. There is an air pocket at the large end of the egg & that is where to start peeling; shell comes off easily. AND no rubbery hard boiled eggs.
-
I saw their ad in the TV but I love to broil the egg in its natural shell and I don't find it hard to peel it. I have a technique in peeling the eggs
it takes you 2 times to test your water some water you need to add a little salt to it and some water doesn't need that
I put the egg with enough cold water to cover it and once it reach the boiling point I use the timer and leave them boiling for 5-6 minutes then I take them out run some cold water on it for a few second then take it out and leave it to dry and when its dry you can peel it so easy and the egg maintain its shape. I don't like to leave them in cold water too much because I love the egg to be hot not cold or just warm. but the most important thing is to leave it to dry.

I have never heard of these but am curious to try.........
-
I am still skeptical about cooking food in silicone. Does anyone know if it seeps into the food?
-
I have never heard of this! I hate eggs so it wouldn't be for me. I would like the jello kind better!!!
-
I havnt had a problem with peeling eggs really often enough to buy this product. So I havnt bought the product Eggies.
-
I may give it a try. I absolutely hate peeling eggs!
-
Found an eggies at the local Kroger grocery store for $9.99 . . . I love trying gadgets . . . still trying to control myself. . . lol I don't know that it is worth that much to boil eggs, especially after the thoughts from the good person that started this thread. $9.99 would buy a lot of eggs! LOL
-
Hold the egg under running water to peel. Works great!

haha....on our local news they have this "does it really do that" sketch. They did the eggies a few days ago and it looked like a bigger pain in the butt than actually peeling the eggs. First they had to wipe the inside of all the eggies with oil on a paper towel. Then when they tried to crack the egg into the eggie, the egg ran down the sides since the hole was so small. They also complained about the eggs not looking very pleasing and having a weird shape. Then, when all was done, they still had to clean all the eggies up.
If your eggs are older, they are harder to peel. My parents have chickens and she says the older eggs are always harder to peel. Definitely make sure to run them under cold water when the time is up, or else they will just keep cooking even though you have taken them out of the water.
-
I can't say I have.

Do you live in New England? I think I saw the same program, on NECN?

Sounds like more work than just peeling them. Especially with all these new tips.

I love hard boiled eggs but I hate peeling them the shells never come off easy.... I have to go to wal-mart today so I will be on the lookout for eggies will letyou know if I find them yea....
-
No, I never heard of Eggies. I probably won't see them around my area anyways....until a couple of years has passed. I live in a very country rural area, so I doubt I will ever see them. Anyways, I don't boil eggs much. My family isn't really an egg eater, so I only buy eggs if they are needed in recipes that I bake and cook. Thanks for the heads up though!
-
I have never heard of them. Sounds interesting tho. I haven't seen any info-mercials or ads about it yet. :dontknow:

I wish I liked eggs

I was curious about these too. Glad to hear they are at Walmart - no shipping and easy to return!!! I will look for them there to try. My best solution to boiled eggs is buying them at the grocery store already boiled. Egglands Best has them usually on the top shelf area of the eggs and egg whites etc. Also there are other brands and good deals. I travel a lot with work and there are a couple stores that when I get to town I go to the store first thing and purchase the boiled eggs and chobani yogurt.
Thank you so much for this information!!! This would be great for my husband who drives over the road.

Thought I would give you an update... So many replied to this post.
I actually have not tried the eggies again.. as of yet.
The idea of this product really peaked my interest.
The fact that there is so much involved to prepare these... really has put a damper on the thought of getting these out again to try them out.
You have to wipe the inside with oil.. then try and crack the egg into this little opening without missing it... lol... well let me tell you... having arthritis in your hands... haha.. this didn't work to well. It was hard enough to hold the egg to crack it.. much less drop it into the tiny opening.
Tried the second one... cracking into a bowl... then pouring into the eggie.
*** mind you.. cracking the egg sometimes drops shells..........................
GRRR.... yup.. you guessed it.. right into the little opening.
So I will try again this week.. and if I have all the same problems.. Walmart is going to have a return... and I will go back to boiling and peeling eggs like my Mom taught me.
*** Great thing about this product.. you can use the products like egg beaters etc.. just pour them into the eggies.. and now those that use this product.. can enjoy hard boiled eggs again.
If anyone mastered this wonderful idea of a product... let me know

I have never heard of it until today but it sounds cool so I'll have to try and find them.
-
I have never heard of eggies before today hmm interesting product
-
Never heard of it either. I am old fashion so I will stick to peeling my eggs :)
-
I haven't tried them but I think I'll save my money and keep on doing it the old fashioned way. I don't boil eggs very much anyway.

The thing that shocked me was that many times I can buy more boiled eggs cheaper than buying the eggs in a carton and then having to prepare them! Who knew! LOL

I have heard of eggies but have never tried any before, its nice to find some reviews about the product and the way it works. I am very cautious about the quality of products and will be sure to see if any are sold in my area.
-
Not only have I heard of them I bought them they work pretty good at least you don't have to worry about peeling off the shell because there is no shell. I like them and use them all the time it took me a while to find them. I must of looked for a month now wal-mart has them. I give it a .

I don't even know what Eggies are, I guess that's what google is for.

Yes I have tried eggies I love them I use them everyday :)
-
hehehehe sounds interesting...thanks for the info!
-
I have never tried eggies before but it sounds good.
-
If I have to crack it to put it in the container...why bother?!?! It's not that hard to peel eggs. I would also be skeptical of the silicone aspect.

Yeah I know how to hard boil eggs... I have to tel ya though... Lol
My mother in law... She's 87 yrs old... She doesn't do them this way. Lol
She about bit my head off the other day...lol
She does her eggs like you.. Till the boiling.
Once they are in the rolling boil stage.. She turns them off. Then let's them sit in pan till they cool.
I about died...couldn't believe how upset she got.. Lol
****she also has this pokey gadget. It pokes a tiny hole in the egg... She swears by this.
I think it's the eggs!!!!!!
No matter how we cook these eggs... They don't peel correctly.... It is like there's no membrane...and the shells are so thin. You can't get under the shell... It rips the egg... I'm so giving up on the old perfect peeled eggs.. :BangHead:
It might be the brand Walmart carries. The eggs are fine... They are also fresh... It's the blasted shell.
Lol... Wow.. I can't believe how eggs can make or brake your day.... Lol. :crybaby2:
:dontknow: :D

Yes I have tried eggies I love them I use them everyday :)
Really????
How in the world did you get them to work?
Mine leaked...
Didn't cook...
Looked horrid when I finally got them out of the shells..
They stuck... Even though they were oiled...
What trick did u do to get them to work?
I'm dying to know. ???
:dontknow:

Cook all the way through evenly...
Not look horrible....
I tried with about 4 dozen eggs... NOT one worked... :crybaby2:
Look forward to your response

I love my eggies I rub canola oil or vegetable oil inside and the eggs come out smooth just like coming out of the shell.
I tried that... Still can't get them to work.
Maybe I got a bad batch.
Mine leak.. They don't seal.
No matter how much oil I use... They stick...
And they are so yucky looking. Not like the regular hard boiled eggs look.
Mine looked tie-dyed.....
Ahhhhhh.....
Lol...

I have never tried eggies because I have too many gadgets now don't need or want anymore. I usually have no problems or issues with boiling eggs - rarely have a batch that doesn't want to peel which makes me crazy :BangHead: but that is rare. Just always make sure that I boil them at least 15 mins because I like mine really well done and try not to use extremely fresh eggs because I heard that is what makes them hard to peel now whether that is true or not - who knows. I always crack them all over and then roll the egg around in my hand, supposedly that loosens the membrane and makes them easy to peel. Don't know what I'm doing right or what is old wives tales but I rarely have trouble with them.
-
I bought them for my boyfriend for Christmas. He's only used them once and said he followed the directions, but his eggs came out kind of soft. No trouble getting them to come out though.
-
I like the comment about the eggs turnign out tye-dyed. That would make the kids laugh.
We use the Cuisinart egg steamer. You can get 7 hard boiled eggs perfect everytime. You can do soft-boiled and poached as well. Unless I see the eggies on a giveaway board, we're not likely to try them.
-
I have not tried eggies my mother got some for CHristmas because she asked for them, but the whole invention just seems like something has to go wrong with it. I can't see it working that well.
-
I have not tried eggies....
-
Yes I have tried them. The tops of the eggs remain flat. You can cook them soft boiled, hard ect. Reminds me of poached eggs. It's great not having to peal them, but they do tend to slightly stick to the sides so you still have that mess to clean. I do like them. I just forget that I have them and still boil and peel eggs. I thought that when I purchased them that I was paying 5.00 but as the usually case with that store, the marked price doesn't reflect the scanned price, I ended up paying more for them than I wanted to.
-
I tried them and wasn't too crazy about 'em.
-
I have tried them. They do tend to stick to the sides. But you hate peeling boiled eggs this is pretty good.
-
Always wanted to try em, just to see how well they work.
As it stands tho, it isn't something I actually need. I don't boil eggs that often, but when I do my eggs peel easily and the shell usually stays whole.
*shrug*

haha... yeah and I took pictures trust me... I didn't think anyone in my family would believe how they turned out.. so I lined them up and took pictures... lol :female:
Could not make them work at all... lol.. but they were cool looking.. if you wanted the funky looking eggs... :dontknow:
I remember seeing the Cuisinart egg steamer... totally forgot about that.
:star: :star: :star: How do you like it??? :star: :star: :star:

Would love to hear some feedback on that.

It works really well. My wife loves hardboiled eggs, but was forever overcooking them until they cracked and the whites oozed out or thurned the yolks green. The cuisinart comes with a measuring cup. You decide if you want soft, medium, or boiled eggs. then you decide how many you want 1-7. Then look on the scale on the side of the measuring cup and fill water to the correct line.
Be sure to add a drop or two of white vinegar to prevent lime (calcium) buildup on the cooker.
It works like a rice cooker. When the water is gone the alarm sounds. You need to turn the cooker off or it will keep on cooking after its alarm quits. There are three trays included for poached eggs. I don't use that too often, but I don't mind the texture at all. Someone that is a freak for perfect poached eggs wouldn't be using this gadget anyhow.
Its storage space is minimal. Given how easy it is to toss 7 eggs in there and walk off until the alarm beeps, this is a winner. We store the eggs in the shell in the refrigerator until we eat them. The shell comes off very easily when the egg is cold.
-
I have never heard of eggies? hmm I must be living in the stone ages...i still have eggs that crack and have whites ooze out or the yolk is overdone, my x-mother in law has a cool glass egg timer you put it in with your eggs and it tells you what stage the eggs are at. I have never been able to locate one of them like she has. I will be looking up eggies today on the web tho!
-
They actually have something similar to eggies at the dollar store (Dollar Tree) here in my neighborhood. Usually those little gadgets work just as well as the real thing so if I were to try it I'd rather pay the $1.

I agree with you there!!! :star: :star: :star:
$1.00 is better than $10.00... if you don't like the Dollar Tree ones... you can just toss them.. or take them to the goodwill. Not too much lost!!
I love your thinking!!!
