Title: When can I feed my infant/toddler fish?
Post by: Tinachelune on October 01, 2011, 07:48:11 pm
I need some help here.  I have a child that is going to be 19 months in a couple of days.  When can I start feeding him fish?  I tried to google it but received not much help there.  I know the murcury (sp) is bad for babies, but when is it safe?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

As long as you have already introduced solid foods and there is NO family history of allergies to fish and especially shellfish, you should be fine. It is also a great 'brain food' for your little one. I practice medicine, so this is NOT an unknown area for me to give advice on. :)

Thanks so much for your reply.  What do you suggest (which fish) should I start with or it really does not matter.  I only ask because fish has a very "strong" taste/smell....I don't want to turn him off to fish altoghether.   ;)
