You will earn money if your friends sign up under you. Here's from the help section:

Our referral bonus system is very simple:

    Refer a friend who confirms his/her email address: $1 bonus
    Your friend completes his/her first offer: $2 bonus
    Your friend cashes out: $5 bonus (each and every time they cashout - for life)

Just be sure your friends do not sign up using your computer.  They have to be on their own computer, using their own internet. Otherwise you won't get credit, and your account can be suspended.

I tell my friends and family about the extra cash i'm making and if they're interested I send them my referral link in an email. If you have an account on a social site with your friends there you can tell them too and see who's interested. that's the easiest way to get a referral

I have 8 referrals 1 is active. I post my link signatures for forums, I advertised on tumblr and twitter even though I don't have many followers on twitter. I haven't referred any real life friends, because I don't think they would be interested.
