Title: how often do you do dishes

Such a pain to do (literally) for me since I can barely use one arm, and my fiance does other chores so she rarely does them. I hate it when they pile up, makes the kitchen look so gross, but I wash dishes for like 5 min 3x a day and eventually I catch up.

Post by: Oryon20 on October 05, 2011, 10:51:52 am: My wife and I do the dishes every day. We don't have a dishwasher, so they all have to be done by hand and hate when they pile up in the sink. Plus, it's much easier to do a day's worth of dishes compared to doing a sink and counter top's worth.

Post by: Annella on October 05, 2011, 12:19:57 pm: I don't do dishes until the dishwasher is full. Sometimes while cooking I'll wash as I go, but hate dishes in the sink for the next day. I have enough dishes to last me a good long while before starting the dishwasher. Only one person. I also make do a lot with paper plates for just snacks and stuff.

If the kids are home, they can fill up the sink with dirty dishes at every meal. I do them 3 times a day then. Sometimes my daughter will do them but not very often.

Our apartment doesn't have a dishwasher and to top that, we have a one sink, not a two sided sink. So, I have like 6 inches of space to rinse the dishes, I HATE IT!! We plan to move soon, and I told my husband I would rather have a dishwasher than a new car!! HAHA!! :P

I always do the dishes after we eat dinner as well. I don't like leaving them in the sink over night. I run my dishwasher prob. every 2 days or so.

Post by: Lindaroof on October 06, 2011, 10:55:24 am: I can't stand to have any dirty dishes in sight, I do have a dishwasher so that helps, I try to make sure it is completely full before I run it though. I do wash a few things by hand thru out the day and I have to do it as soon as I am finished with dinner or what the occasion might be. Just feels so gross to see dirty dishes sitting around.

Post by: wittylance on October 06, 2011, 01:35:04 pm: Well I am staying with my mother and I only do dishes once in a while, but she doesn't work, neither does her husband they are both disabled so mom tries to keep them up so they don't pile up. I have been working latter hours and I leave for work by 6 am and don't get home somtimes after 6pm so I don't do them as much. I do appreciate not having to do them because I am working so much.

If I keep the dishes up than my kitchen stays cleaner and I don't have to worry about doing all the dishes in the house at one time. I don't like standing around and doing dishes for an hour trying to get it caught up.

I don't like to leave dishes in the sink and here in Florida if you leave dirty dishes for a couple days you get yucky littl flying bugs. I also clean as I cook so I don't have a huge mess after dinner.

I cook many of my meals in advance so sometimes it's 4 to 5 times a day that I am washing dishes. :wave: :peace:

I never leaves the dishes overnight due to worry of accumulation of bacteria, which is why I seldom ever eat once I toss the detergent water.

Post by: poppy1 on October 17, 2011, 05:09:00 am: We use paper plates and cups, so if I cook I transfer food into serving dishes or containers, wash up the pots and cooking utensils and then whenever we eat we just have to wash silverware until the food is all gone , then we wash the dishes and containers that the food was stored in, about three days after cooking. :dontknow:
