Do you think it's fair for all states to emulate the Immigration law,
just to create jobs for that state?

Yes. The states serve the citizens of the states and should do whatever is necessary to insure their safety and livelihood. If the federal government fails to uphold the laws it is bound to obey, or is unable to, then there is a problem that demands more involvement from the states (so long as not in contention with the federal laws). If foreign nationals are invading our borders in such large numbers (regardless of any overall decency of the people) then we have a serious problem that needs to be addressed. Imagine if 1 person per 1000 such invaders had hostile intentions, consider the damage they could do. Remember that we are a target for people with bad intentions and they have already demonstrated their hatred and willingness to kill indiscriminately.
Compassion and sympathy should not replace wisdom and common sense. If someone moved into your house without permission would you allow them to stay? What if they did your yard work or some other chores? What if they just wanted a better life for themselves and your house offered that? What if they were fleeing a bad situation where people were dying and wanted safety for their families (tough one here honestly but consider that they didn't posses enough quality to try and save their own country how much loyalty can you expect for them to show for yours)?

Here's the whole thing w/immigration, in my area most of the immigrants do work that most people wouldn't do IE. work the fields. Now I'm not saying it is right for these farmers to hire these people but maybe it should be up to the state to monitor certain businesses more carefully. The good farmers make sure their people are on a work visa etc. but not all are honest like that and that's where immigration law and jobs coincide :wave:

this country allows immigrants to come in and work when our own born citizens do not have a job...the immigration laws need to be tough and there needs to be a limit on the amount they let come in...my boyfriend is having a hard time making a living because the contruction jobs are being underbid bt migrant workers,,,it is so infair. the u.s., land of the free, home of the brave, and dead end road for hard working citizens with no job to go to.

I live in Alabama, and trust me, I will probably never defend our legislators about ANYTHING. But here's the thing with the Immigration law. Yes I believe that jobs for the citizens was the motivation behind the law, and okay I get that sure. But the poster who mentioned that the (mostly) Hispanic illegals will do work that citizens won't do is dead on. I've seen it first-hand, having worked at farmer's market for several years. So it that respect, all the law is going to do is drive up the price of produce, because there's going to be a huge labor shortage. The sane (which means Alabama would have never thought of it anyway) thing would be to simply enforce the laws we already have. I can take a 10-minute drive in some of our rural areas and round up 20 illegals during that time (well I could before that law was passed. Now the illegals who haven't left are all in hiding, not even sending their kids to school.) Couldn't the cops do the same thing? Of course I don't believe my tax dollars should be paying for illegals education, either, so its a cloudy issue for me.
